Just like landing a 747 for the first time. After setting the flaps at 25° simply pull back the blue lever to lower the landing gear. Except there is no blue lever.

Whoever edited this video removed the step where you told us how to load a drum kit. Without the drums loaded we cannot follow you. please realize that there are many people who are NEW to this. Thanks

I think I figured it out. bottom right click the expansion browser then the trap soul & lofi (same cover as what he shows) then under programs-lofi-kit choose your kit then you should be able to load as he shows under programs. thanks for this question I cam here because I had the same problem, so I hope this helps anyone even though I'm 8 months late

Sooo, I'm completely new to all of this but what he isn't showing is A. What template he used and, more importantly, B. How/if he had to load the files for the Lo-fi Drum kit at the 48 second mark. On my screen the file browser is open on the right side, and I think by default it was open to c:\ProgramData\Akai\MPC\content. If yours is not open look for the harddrive button on the bottom right hand side (just left of the help button), or try pressing your f key. Once you have found the content folder drag the browser left to see the full folder names and select the one ending 'trapsouldandlofibeats'. That is where you will find the LoFi Kit LS with U Kit C drum kit. Double click it and then go to the program menu on the left side and it should be there just like in the video. Sorry if this isn't written very clearly. It would have been a lot simpler to show it in the video.

@David Stadium Heights I'm not going to buy the MK2 because its software is the same as The free MPC beats. The MPC beats has bad glitching and bugs like not stopping the sound when stop is pressed strange grafic glitches. The worst is that it keeps randomly deleting midi that's been previously put down for example I record the bass drum and then what to record the hi hats its deleting the bass drum midi. Very annoying and makes it unusable.

Yeah, which made it quite difficult and confusing to follow as a beginner.

Well reading the comments, it looks like we're all in the same boat and can't use the software very effectively. It's kinda tough to use. I with they provided much more detailed tutorials. I really enjoy these videos, but they're not specific and pretty much no one can follow along without solving many problems on their own. Akai, you'll get sooo many more users if you can simply provide some detailed tutorials, specifically regarding solving many common technical issues and explaining the overall intended workflow design of the softeare. Thanks for what you have provided though! Mpc beats hasn't gotten me far, but it has opened the door at least.

So true, the software seems so powerful yet it is very unconventional. The first few pages of the manual helped me a lot to understand the concept behind sequences, tracks and programs. I can highly recommend to read these few pages, it helped me a lot to get going (I did not read the entire manual so far). I could actually follow this video, although a lot of steps are left out towards the end - after the piano, the other instruments are added in the same way, so this is left out i guess to avoid being repetitive. My only problem with this software so far is the undo function. I must learn not to touch it. It undoes like 20 or 30 steps and afterwards the redo button is greyed out. 10 Minutes of work are just lost. I need to figure this out, I don't know if it is a bug or just does not work as expected (as so many other things in this software).

You're filthy with it man! Just getting back into some music production & MPC beats is perfection for a beginner like myself. Much to learn!

Didn't even show us how you got to the template you're on. I have none of those options starting from an EMPTY PROJECT

@@MakaveliNThis this is brillint - NOT . it's impossible for me to get the pads or anything tied to it running (Did you get it running? it's explained NOWHERE) .. in the video it just works out of the box... if you do it yourself... nope... pads / keys nothing will do anything.

Hi! When I’m choosing note repeat as shown in the video, my mpk mini 2 is playing double pads from bank A and B. How do I fix this?

At 3:15 "lets go to track 2 and add a piano" then the video is edited everything changes. I've downloaded the LoFi program but there is no option to select a piano program (Inst-piano-oFi-upright). If anyone knows how to he added the piano part I would be grateful if you could share it. There is obviously a few things to do or it wouldn't have been edited out of the video.

Hey, what is this beat called? I could really enjoy listening to this on a long drive or something. PS I used to make beats years ago in FL10. The beat you made is so great and I love the vibes.

Today, I bought the MPD218. The pads are all assigned wrong? Fro example, when I hit PAD1 on the MPD218, pad 2 is activated, and when I hit Pad 2, pad 1 is activated on the MPC.

How do you make all of the beats the same length? Is there some sort of automation you can do? Is it just a steady hand?

Im confused. When using note repeat it changes the tone of the hats for me to sound like a woodpecker rather than triple hats. What could be the issue? *Nvm* it seems that the "Rim" was also being triggered at the same time. That was weird.

I can't even get to square one with this software. I can't figure out how to load the additional Air instruments that were included with my MPK Mini 3, when I start a project I have no field to control loop length, none of the control knobs do anything at all. It's beyond frustrating.

If I got this two years ago before getting a semi grip on my ADHD I never woulda God this thing setup lol for being the industry standard they really drop the ball on ease of entry especially considering most people getting this are beginners.. obviously it's been 10 months so I hope you got it all setup and love yours! I'm on day 2 got most of it setup and love it now. I just still can't get some of the knobs to register right but for now I'm having fun and making progress lol

I found it! For the knobs, activate MIDI learn (Ctrl+Shift+L or down right), then click ENABLE (top right)

In my program all I have is Program 001 and how do I get the other sounds you show in your video, I have installed everything I believe correctly, I connected my akai mpd218 hardware

Mind you, none of this seems to work in the Mini Play. I’m trading this in for the correct one if I can’t get it to map properly.

looking at the simplicity of this video makes me think that all my hardware is broken....

Fired my Mikro MK3 up today. Got to this "tutorial" and it all came back as why I gave up on this thing. at the :47 mark none of us have the lo fi project to load. m guessing you left out a step. Several users on this thread have also mentioned this, but there is no response. We at least deserve your time/effort if we bought your product. Please clarify on shy we do not have the option as you did. br

How do you add a new piano track to your drum beat?

I had a problem with Knobs - They didn't work. Solution: press ctrl + shift + L in MPC Beats -> select Q-links in 'view' and make sure that 'enable' button is active! :)

I watched many of the tutorial videos at work today and felt inspired to come home and watch them again and follow along, but very little of what is presented in the video worked. How, for example, did he get to adding the piano instrument? I have managed to create some music on mpc beats, but these videos aren't that helpful especially when things don't work exactly as presenter is showing.

Throughout the video PAD PERFORM Tab has a prefirences like: Type - cromatic, PAD ROWS - start on root, Root note - Eb, Scale - Natural minor, octave - 1... Mine prefirences are different and blocked for manual edit, so I can't add some base line like on video, where shoud I look for edit PAD Perform? {PC Win11, MPC Beats 2.8.3, Akai mpk mini}

so how do you get the grid to show 16th notes?? mine only shows quarter notes.

The instruction at 2mins 54secs did not work for me. I followed the steps, but on each of the 8 pads in banks A and B, I still had all the previous drum/percussion sounds I used to create the beat from the start.

Excellent instructional video....however I use an mpk mini plus and when I apply the 16 Level to chromatically change the pads it works on the screen but not on the mpk mini plus pads....any idea why that is?

Great guide! When adding 808s using 16 levels, I can get it to work internally on MPC beats, but not on the pads on my MPK miniplay. Is there a way to configure them so that they work like they do in the video (around 3:04)?

You simply copy that sequence, drag the play line on to the spot where you wanna put the sequence and paste

So I'm left with a blank loading screen for the lofi kit??

i´ve got a problem with my knobs.. the y dont work on the time division, zoom, playhead etc.. i can only modify velocity with them. Anybody got a solution? Also when i save a sequence where can i find it?

question guys i just got an mpd226 and when i set up mpc beats it recognized my mpd. The problem is i have still had to click the pads on the DAW and no sounds come from me pressing my actual mpd. it works fine in ableton live so i know im doing something wrong. Any ideas? i know its hooked up because i see a light on the daw when i press pads just no sounds

How do I play normal piano without it being weird? Currently after I record a piano track it sound a little weird, some notes are quicker, some notes are missed, even though I played correctly on the mpk 3, does it have to do with the tempo? I played with it but still got to good results as to what I was actually playing on the mpk compared to in the daw

You can't play keyboard and can't hit keys right. While you may think your playing is good, it's just a placebo. Ask other person to listen to your playing and he/she will tell you are way off. It's just simpler to sequence note by note, or use auto-quantize function, then humanize/shuffle/swing if you want to. Also you can use fixed velocity for piano patch (almost 100 % sure, used in video).

im using the mini plus, when it comes to the bass part (16 level) it does not work at all, am I missing something ?? follow exactly how he does it, please can someone help, before I through the thing into the bin.

Hello first time user here! I just downloaded the software today and was trying to follow this video. At 0:58 this video shows switching between pad A and B...I am having issues loading the drum pad bank A (only B seems to work). I found instructions saying to fix this by pressing the "program select button" and pressing "pad 6" but I don't know what the "program select button" is... any idea? Thanks so much!

Program select is on your midi controller. On an mpk3, it is in the top corner. Two years later, I am sure you have found your answer.

Sequences and Tracks aren't deleted but rather cleared, from the Edit Menu.
