You forgot the most important detail. Soundwave is actually articulated enough that he can press his own Eject button. That alone is worth the price.

Just watched this video 9 years later. Bought this guy last year and never bothered transforming him until now. Great Soundwave to be honest.

I spend the majority of this review praising how awesome this figure is and while they found a very clever way to do it, he still turns into a box like his G1 self, are you really gonna dispute that? I pay much reverence to the figures in my collection (again, all the praise I gave this toy), I just try to make the reviews entertaining and I do it the way I want, not the way others want. You're entitled to your opinion, but it is not at all true. My best :)

This is definitely my favorite Transformers figure of all time with all the gimicks and hidden features it has, and the fact that they went out of their way to include Soundwave's chest readings and cassete case is something they totally didn't have to do but still did, which shows how much they care about making quality figures that don't just transform and hold guns.

All I can say is wow. That is by far the best looking Masterpiece Transformer out of all of them.

Its the Japan name. Laserbeak was called Condor and Ravage was called Jaguar in Japan. I much prefer the worldwide names of Laserbeak and Ravage

This figure is amazing. almost 10 years have passed, and it still is a beautiful work of art.

As a proud Gen-X'er who loved his Transformers during the 80's, I must say that I'm really impressed both with the advanced articulation of the upgraded Soundwave and Lazer Beak as well as the attention to detail.

Dude it actually looks like Soundwave, and Lazerbeak! I'll always love the original G1 models, but the construction, and detail on the masterpieces is incredible. 2 thumbs up!

I felt like a little kid again, I lost it when I saw the energon cubes & when you did the comparison with Megatron. My childhood was so phucking awesome!! Great vid 👍🏽

Just bought this guy along with the tapes Corp and I can’t wait till they arrive. Had the G1 toy as a kid and he was hands down my favourite then. This one just looks superb.

This is my favorite TF ever! I can't wait till he's back in Stock!!

Watching in December 2020 (almost 2021) and this is still the definitive Soundwave figure. Best Soundwave on the planet, regardless of line. It's so good that I'm still unsure if I'm going to buy Acoustic Wave (if Fanstoys ever releases him).

Awesome review as always Emgo. Love the cut-away gags, always worth waiting for. Soundwave is a awesome masterpiece figure, a little pricey though. Keep up the good work!

Finally, the manufacture has done excellent job on making the robot resemble from the 80's cartoon. The original transformer toy was good, but no where near the details and the looks like this. Wow!

I laughed so hard when you said they added a headphone jack, "they added a headphone jack, you can actually plug in a headphone jack! ....grant it you can't actually listen to anything!"... LMAO I brag about these masterpiece Transformers all the time, the Engineering is amazing! The way Transformers should of been made to begin with back in the 80's! Just incredible stuff they did with these! I own two so far, Rachet and Prowl. I also own the 25th annv. Prime. Someone else made that, but very good piece fas as engineering, especially the hands. Nice job on review, detailed, and you talk about much as possible no matter what it is. I can't wait to add this Soundwave to my collection, near perfect! They should of made it play as an mp3, real tape player, or at least a digital sound file with button that plays the tunes he played when disquised as a tape player. After all, they were meant to be,.. Robots in Disguised! ..and not so well known to Earth populations like in the movies. Nice clip at the end! lol

1 thing i absolutely adore with that grid stuff is that it hides whatever tape soundwave has in storage, so the effect is just like in the cartoon, really sweet.

the casette case does look like and energon cube, cuz if you notice after they fill em the compress them down so it's easily transportable

Also EmGo you could try coloring the energon cube with a pink marker (non permanent of course) to simulate an energon cube and wash it off when your done :)

Where did you get the optimus prime action figure

seems a lot more work to transform then the classic one.

The blockyness of the figure makes it more easy to make more alternative modes, i make: a base mode, a train mode, a gun/crossbow mode, a sort of scorpion mode, and of course the classic cybertronian streetlight, making him a sort of SevenChanger. Also, the minicons can have alternatives modes to complement all the other modes of Soundwave, like a tank and airship modes to Rumble and Frenzy, a turret and axe mode to Ratpack, a car and crossbow mode to Ravage, and manny more.

Loved this review Emgo. I have MP 13B Soundblaster with RatBat and I got the cassette sets for it too. The only one I'm missing is lazerbeak. It is an amazing figure I agree. So hopefully I will get Soundwave eventually to complete the set. Ravage's engineering in the masterpiece cassette version is even more crazy than buzzsaw/lazerbeak's.

I got a used one for 60 dollars and it's still in perfectly good shape.

The reason I love the masterpiece line is all the little throwbacks to the original cartoon. That, and, you know. Posable Soundwave.

the little silver scanner accesory can plug into the 2 peg port on his side, and attach to Rumble/Frenzy's hammers.

Emgo, the sensor accessory was used in the episode key to vector sigma part 1. soundwave used it to locate the key under the rubble i believe.

In the cutout gag you can see emgo's hand through the reflection in Soundwave's chestpiece.

Soundwave is one of my top 3 favorite deceptacons. The other two are g1 Megatron and Shockwave

I've wanted this figure for 10 years and I'll be able to afford it in 2 months! I'm literally so excited for this-
