Incredible: this is masterclass in Mozart singing. The legato: to die for. Her way of breathing. Everyword is clear. The way she goes from these very low notes in one perfect connection up. And oll of that in this beautifull tone. Just WOW !!

Divine what a gift she had .....

Lucia, so beautiful with an angelic voice a tragedy she died so young, what a waste of a sublime talent

Popp brought a timbre that was both light and high yet warm, trembling and tinged with death. She was an interesting singer and her appoggia of breath and leaning in and out of tension in the voice really captured the Mozartian style of the 18thC. Her premature death was a large loss for the music world.

Lucia Popova, Gone but never forgotten. A beautiful person in every aspect, a great voice.

She is my Madonna forever...

I become a nice person when I listen to this master piece.

Absolutely right Mr. Chungchi hui. I fell in love with these immortals in the late 80s, when I heard this Mozart's masterpiece and his Requiem for the first time without understanding a single word but moved by immense beauty.

The best recording of this soprano solo out there, imo. Popp does every note justice.

William Robinson I love Popp’s interpretation here, but there are many beautiful & a few other sublime versions of this EIE. It is Mozart who does justice to each note.

Wonderful silverly voice! Lucia for ever and ever.

Her voice has a warmth which brings out the humanity in this mass. Listen to Janowitz in the Bohm recording. Wonderful but all ethereal. I love both.

Nova Scotia, Canada June 2020. We chatted in the comments section of another Lucia Popp video. I hope you are doing well and things are going better in Tokyo with COVID. I used to work for a wonderful Czech gentleman who was very, very sad when Lucia Popp passed away, so I learned about her the day she died. I wish I had had the chance to see her in person, Lucia Popp has the most beautifiul voice I have ever heard.

You have the CD? Could you please upload all or at least Incarnatus and Quoniam/Benedictus? This concert is from Mozart Festival Würzburg in Germany from 1981 with Popp, Kenny and Schreier and Holl.

Boy that was astonishing! Too many felicities to mention. I noticed the ease with which she projected her voice while seeming not to be singing that loudly. She was a great singing actress, conveying textured meanings.
