Mozart's "Et incarnatus est" from the Credo of his Mass In C Minor, K.427, sung by Arleen Auger (soprano) with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Bernstein, recorded live at the Abbey Church of Waldsassen, Germany, in April 1990.

No screeching,screaming, perfection with every note, keeping the same level of consistency amazing. Never forgotten.....👌
Goddess is singing...Heavenly smile even at difficult and complex notes...My deepest respect for her.
I wonder if Mozart - in his wildest dreams - could have foreseen his work being performed to perfection like this. "Thank you for the music". A cornucopia of delight !
We are blessed to be able to hear this voice and artistry. One in a million.
Those people who disliked this heavenly voice, surely they are mad or know nothing about music. There will be no ANOTHER Madam Auger within a hundred million years to come, I strongly believe it. I adore Ms. Auger. If it was possible to carry her shoes on my head. 🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹Her voice brings tears to my eyes.

This is indeed a marvellous version. My other favourite rendition is by the gloriously gifted Anna Moffo, from a 1958 Mozart recital album--and here on youtube!
they are up... about 445 in a..... so sharp! and she still handles it like a boss!
The woodwinds converse with Ms. Auger's voice in wonderful ways.
The ethereal voice of Arleen Auger, with the conducting of Leonard Bernstein, would send Mozart to heavenly bliss, if he weren't already there!!
So rare. That musicians get this level of Gratefulness for any other musician's Art.
The magic of her voice! Love her forever!
What an artist. Hard to believe she left us only three years later.

And Leonard Bernstein died 6 months after this concert, in october 1990.
I’ve listened to others who butcher the phrasing...but this is perfection! I hope people understand the athleticism singing like this takes. She’s my new hero! 😆

*Mein 'Vorschlag' einer* EQUALIZER-Einstellung -10dB (60Hz) -10dB (230Hz) -10dB (910Hz) - 8dB (4kHz) +15dB (14kHz) Hören "in *erster Reihe"!* Die Intonation der Instrumente wird *nicht* verändert; da jedoch vor allem die mAn. *eigentlich kaum hörbaren* Obertöne zunehmend verstärkt sind, gewinnt die Wiedergabe merklich an Brillianz & Text i besser verständlich. (An der Tonquelle sind zunächst die Obertöne maßgeblich und stark mit-verantwortlich für die "Tonfärbung" des Klanges. Je weiter entfernt ein Hörer, umso deutlicher lässt die sehr hochfrequente Signalintensität nach; *schneller* als die tiefere! Für ältere Aufnahmen bereits relevant beim Input in die unterschiedlich im Raum postierten Mikrofone. Dem wird mit neuester Aufnahmetechnik natürlich Rechnung getragen. Bei *früheren* Produktionen wirkt hier mMn. eine moderate Verstärkung der in einer Aufnahme geschwächt vorhandenen obersten Frequenzen diesem Hochtondefizit etwas entgegen; hören Sie selbst!)

Vergleiche die Wiedergabe, z.B. ab 6:37f. mit und ohne o.a. Equilizer-Einstellung.... Hier wird die bessere Akustik sehr deutlich hörbar.

If you feel this way then you should listen to Lucia Popp with Kubelik from 1981. Cause she is even better.

Sometimes you just have to be grateful that such moments are captured for posterity. There are so many things that can go wrong in live performance, particularly when filmed. It all worked beautifully here. Thanks for sharing.

Bernstein died only months after this performance (Oct. 1990) and Auger was dead less than 3 years after. Such amazing musicians the quality of which is sorely missed. (Auger was an early teacher of Renee Fleming.)

Arleen died from a brain tumour aged 53. How tragic !
Her singing is very polite deliberate and measured all of the time and consequently everything sounds the same. She would never dare lapse into abandon of any kind. She was likely very disciplined and refined to a fault.

I’m fascinated by this style. She’s choosing not to have vibrato all the time, just on the sustained notes. It does confer some advantages and is pretty in its simplicity; however, it’s a matter of taste and I slightly prefer to hear this sung with fuller timbre and consistent vibrancy.
Not really my cup of tea. Nice voice but doesn’t move me personally. Thanks for posting though
