Im a new guy to the sim scene, spending most of my time on the touges and rally stages. I got the Logitech setup right now with Mozas hand brake and the amount of bang for your buck u get out of that product is wild in 2023. The only thing holding me back from this shifter as an upgrade is the lack of good sequential as thats a feature i would love when i make the jump to full speed WRC cars. Gotta say ur review process is elite brother. Gave all the info i needed and put me on the right path to either scooping this or the Fanatec unit for that sequential goodness.

Really liking Moza. I have the R5 bundle it's just great kit, I will be adding this shifter... Sequential Moza!

Okay, I will admit, I'm sold on that intelligent downshifting system. I have SR-P Pedals, and me being bad at heel-toe driving means I can just get this shifter and I won't ever need to blip again. Moza, you've impressed me :D

received shifter today, thanks for an amazing review. little teething problem i need to solve. AMS2 does not see 4-6 gear, yet iracing sees everything fine.

Moza is not messing around guys. I have the R9, GS GT wheel, and the SR-P pedals, and I friggin love them! Just ordered a round wheel from them too, but it hasn't come yet. If anyone gets the SR-P pedals, do be sure to get the accessory kit for $15, as the standard brake spring is no good. Way too light for a load cell, but the kit makes it really shine for the price (though the kit should have been included imo)

This is easily the best shifter at $149 with out a doubt imo its better than fanatecs shifter even in h pattern performance is freaking awesome and so glad i got one

Great review Shaun. If I was to buy this, it would be to row the gears and for the price it is a great option. I know some cars do come with a 7th gear but who actually shifts into 7th on a track????

I just found out yesterday that my microcenter had these when i was there and bought my R5 bundle 2 weeks ago i picked up a thrustmaster th8a with it not knowing they had the hgp shifters in the back and not on the floor so yesterday i took back the th8a and got the hgp shirt and some of my money back the th7a cost $50 more this shifter crushes every shifter I've used to day as far as how shifts feel it's absolutely amazing the only H pattern that can run with it without cost $1000 is the fanatec club sport sq and it still cost $100 more

This shifter seems to have a much more realistic gate pressure/engagement than the TH8A which is a huge boon, especially for $50 less. My biggest complaint with the TH8A is how it feels like a toy and has almost no weight, even with the adjustment tightened down quite a bit. The gated 7th gear doesn't bother me either, since I can sometimes miss 5th gear and go straight into the 7th gear position on my TH8A. Since I never use sequential shifting with the TH8A and also having the R9 base and SR-P pedals, this is a no-brainer purchase and plan to acquire one of these soon!

Moza is knocking it out the park at the moment. You seen their ES wheel formula conversion wheel? Seems to me Moza listen to their users and quickly release updates and add-ons. The R5 base doesn't have standard hole placements, so they brought out a plate, the starter pedals brake wasn't very good so they released a brake mod etc. True, all these little additions add to the price but you don't have to buy them if you don't need them. I'd rather that than have to buy a whole new rim for formula cars.

they add to the price, but that price is much lower than the competition to begin with. the ES wheel + mod is pretty cheap all together.

Should have a sequential option alogside. H is fun, but just for vintage content and (some) road cars.

This shifter seems almost perfect but it's just so loud. I wish there was a shifter that had a firm and notchy engagement but quiet enough to not disturb my upstairs/downstairs neighbors and roommate.

Looks nice and I hope it doesn’t suffer the same issue as the fanatec CS shifter where it miss shifts. Huge missed opportunity is being able to be side mounted like the fanatec. That’s how I have mine attached to my p1x. I would never bottom mount the shifter because it will sit too high up imo.

There are two types of misshifts with the CSS. One is user-error due to the close horizontal gates and the other is due to EMI because it's hall sensors. Having wider Gates like this Moza or my Frex H-shifter makes it difficult in a positive way for example to shift from 5th to 2nd by accident what happened to me too often with the CSS and can ruin your race. But at least it's not a money-shift like in real life😛

@barchetta85 if you have a P1X you have many options to mount it lower I have that rig

ETS2 and ATS have tucks, 12 +2 there is a use for 7 speed transmission with a maped button you could use all 14 gears for a more " immersive " gameplay.

dont know if im just dump as ive tryed to set up my 7 speed before but ets only let you set 6 gears you can only use 7th as a splter.

Sounds really really loud compared to other shifters. Interested to see what other reviewers say about it, especially since the GS wheel has issues with the shifters being obnoxiously loud as well.

That GS wheel has rubber pads you can add to make the shifters less loud. I added those and have no issues with the sound.

I thought so too. I was suprised he didn't mention it. Then again, I have no experience with any high end shifters. I have the TH8A, and it's very quiet. I could see this shifter being a no go for people in close proximity to others.

Wondering if they will bring out a sequential shifter plate and update the software so we can get the best of both worlds

Wouldn't this also require hardware adjustments so that the gear lever doesn't get stuck in up/down positions? Or this is not how sequential mode works on H-pattern shifters?

They're very similar to those of the Ali Express shifter casing, their mechanism looks very different tho. I think a simple 3d print will suffice to lock the 3 and 4 gates, but a plate will be much ideal

Given the way the sensors are set up at the beginning of the shift gate i think a diy guy like myself can make a plate for sequential shifting. I would really expect them to release a plate themselves. Seems like an easy fix.

I'm pretty sure someone can easily 3d print something to make it into a seq mode. Just like those ali express ones. Very similar outer build

How is the paint quality? I noticed on the R5 it scratches if you breath on it.

Imo why not just use wheel paddle shifters? A additional sequential hand shifter will be slower and add cost and complexity. Also they are so simple it would be easy to diy a nice sequential shifter if you want one.

Moza only gave me the access code for the first Beta and never gave me the code for the one with the accelerator blip when they sent me the e-mail talking about the updated software it was the same code for the first beta version

Patented design dust cover? Thrustmaster shifter has this. Are you sure?

I would be first in line if they made the H-pattern the same as the Thrustmaster TH8A, the adjustable spring, and none painted model, and got rid of the push down for reverse. as it is push down for 7th, the H-pattern layout, the lack of spring tension, and painted are the 3 things that are really putting me off buying this and using it as my daily shifter over my TH8A. the only thing they things they got right over the TH8A is that it would be easier to create a stand-alone stand for things like handbrake, ignition key, and button box unit. as well as button sensors in the neutral position in the gatter, rather than at the end of the throw like the TH8A.

Havent watched yet but ive Been waiting to see what their shifter would be like

@The Simpit I use one of the H-shifters from ali express, paid about $100 dollars for it. it has hall sensors, instead of limit switches. there's is a little bit of play in the mechanism. but it is durable AF. I drive this thing like an angry teenager, literally HAMERING through the gears. My Question Is This.... Can The Moza Handle The Abuse?

You forgot one thing in good list: You are playing while weight lifting. Man this shifter is so heavy to push. Got one im happy with it. Must buy if you dont want to stretch your budget on TH8A

Is there any moza coupons available?

This is great but what about mounting? I use a desk and looking to get into sim racing. I know Moza makes a mount but the shifter would be way too high with this mount. Need something that mounts to the desk but allows the shifter to mount lower than the desk height.

There are a few companies that make chair mounts for shifters like monstertech.

Hmm, this seems to be a good product for a fair price. BUT for me it is missing an important feature which is the sequential mode. I would pay 50 bucks more to have this feature. I don't want to buy two shifters (H-pattern and sequential) when I could have a combined one. So I wonder if this lacking feature is a k.o. criteria for most customers?

I have already a sequential shifter just on the right of the wheel, for rally, so I need only a H shifter

I'm torn between this and the SHH shifter. With shipping, they'll both be about the same amount of money. If the Moza had a sequential mode like the SHH, I'd 100% go with it, but it does have metal housing, whereas the SHH doesn't.

Literally exactly where I’m at hahaha I think I’m too much of a rally fan to go without a sequential shifter and if I had to attach two different shifters to my wheel stand it would take up too much space next to a hand brake so I think I have to go with the SHH. Why couldn’t you make an H+S shifter Moza 😭

@@alteredcarnate3445 very true, I ordered the SHH shifter but I’m thinking about saving for the Moza and turning the SHH into a dedicated sequential because damn that Moza is so nice. Just don’t know if I got enough room for 2 shifters and a handbrake on the new rig 😓

I could care less about shifters in 2023 but it does seem like a great low cost shifter for those who do. I really only watched for the new backdrop! 😃

So it basically is as good/bad shifter as any other out on the market. Why do I say that? well it still allows for misshifts or rather the stick shifter will allow for u to place the stick in gear while it is not in gear, ie not like a real life manual gearbox. If one dont match the clutch work then the shifter should not allow to put the stick in that gear.

@@Simaddict360 that can happen ive haerd theories that swiching from s to h cases the magnate to get miss aligned over time. but i wouldn't wary to much everyone i know that has had this prob like them enough and had them long enough that they just bought a new one after fixing it a couple times. do stay away from the handbrake its know as a handBRAKE in drifting groups for a reson.

​@@Simaddict360 I've had problem with mine as a stand alone shifter (rj12 to USB adapter needed from fanatec) not registering 1st and 2nd gears. But turns out I just needed to recalibrate the gears from the fanatec software. Good to go. I replaced the shaft with a shorter version and feels so much more resistance. Sequential feels nice with good solid return feedback. So for the price of one for H pattern and sequential, SQ is a better deal.

They should have called the 7th gear as reverse also. You said how hard it is to select 7th gear because you have to push it down. Well.. if someone mounts the shifter on the left side their reverse would be also hard to press down so they can use the 7th gear (which is closer to them) as reverse. Btw the thrustmaster shifter for nearly twice as much does connect directly to the pc or you need an extra adapter for another $30-40? making it even more expensive?

Why are shifters so loud

The ONLY thing that really annoys me, is why they couldnt have just put an 8th gear on there... They have the space. It would have been incredible for those rare cars I drive with 8 gears. Otherwise, its typical great Moza quality and typical Moza pricing which basically puts Fanatec to shame.

Who uses a sequential on a H shifter anyway? It is usually aweful. Fanatecs and Thrustmasters offering produce a very lacklustre feel. Buy a Heusinkveld or Aiologs for that.

Me. Adjust the tension and a Fanatec CS and it gives a pretty good fel, no where nears are good as the shifters you mentioned, but I'm on xbox, so no choice.

No car in real life has shift as hard as HGP! My whole rig shakes when shifting, and its loud. I wish it was smoother and silent. Its too hard for me. If you play sims like ETS2, you expect to have a softer and smoother shifter.

Rarely see manual H pattern in cars because of miss-shifts..errr okay

I know youre trying to use the metric system for our European friends but couldnt you have just said 1.3 kilos instead of 1300 grams?

@diab3lo does it allow me to select gears with out alerting everyone in my house I'm doing so? Yes. I understand wanting the shifter to have a nice defined clunk but it doesn't have to be loud. If I purchased this shifter I wouldn't be able to use it when my fiance is sleeping.

I have it, far better than TH8a and Fanatec, only the simagics DS8X is better but for 300€ more, so in fact MOZA shifter is far better

I bought one. It would not calibrate out of the box. It’s junk. Took me 2 months of daily emails to get Moza to take it back. I am still waiting my refund. Buy at considerable risk.

Seems like a premium AliExpress shifter. Not really a fan of the shifting sound though.

It does but it's NOTHING like it. My brother has that alibaba shifter and it's horrible. There are tiny switches at every single gate to register shifts. This is completely different.

Nah, it looks like a $150 Ali Express shifter which is what it is. Funny thing is that it's really good for a "cheap" shifter, but the problem is the SHH Newt is probably better for less.

@@CSOCSO they they show different internals but the shift feel he described is the same as ail shifters they are vary different but kinda the same they both go in to gear easyer the out. i hop srg reviwes it so we can see the inside more. also if your bro had a prob with it useing switchs he should have bought the hail sensor version.
