    I have one and it is a good lift. Two things to be careful, the little pins that hold the wheels will slip out. The other is the metal strap that holds the handle is SOFT metal and will pop after about 8 uses. The jack works well.

    Thank you for sharing your feedback and providing some important tips for using this lift. It's always helpful to hear from those who have hands-on experience with the equipment. Being aware of potential issues like the pins and the metal strap will certainly help others use the jack more effectively. Your insights are much appreciated! 🚗🛠️👍

    This is an excellent video with one exception. I wish you have shown how it collapses for we who are concerned about storage. Is it heavy to lift if we wish to hang it on a wall in the garage? Collapsing it and hanging it or storing it would have been a great addition to your video.

    Is there a way to use this jack if you don't have both front wheels on? Like, for example, if you are working on front axle or wheel bearings?

    Thanks for watching and the question @Am Mo! I am not aware of a way to adjust the oil pressure but the manual does include instructions on how to bleed the hydraulic system of excess air. I will leave the instructions for that in the description area of the video.

    I realize this is not a recent video. Have you tried driving the back wheels up on block to give more rear clearance?

  • @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods

    @OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods

    Hey +James Burrough, that is a great idea! We have some car ramps that I had been using to drive the front end of the unit up on to try and get under the mower deck but then the ramps were kind of in the way. So the idea is to try backing the unit up on the car ramps and then using the lift on the front to see if that helps with additional clearance. Still waiting for our snow to melt. May be awhile before I get the mower out and shoot some footage of that. Thanks for the comment and idea/question!!!

    Thanks for watching and the comment! We use this lift to get access to the mower deck so we can change/sharpen the mower blades. If you are trying to change/remove a tire, a car jack would work better.

    You aren't using the spring loaded safety pins correctly. They are supposed to latch automatically thru the three notches.

  • @johnk6313

    I initially had this issue. When the jack is lower (when first jacking up or at end of lowering) there is more horizontal force vs vertical force causing the jack to slide. You can even even see it happen to him in the video. I remedied this by releasing the brake on the mower prior to jacking it up or down. This allows the mower to shift/roll some instead of the jack. Just be sure to lock the brake once fully jacked up so it doesn't roll on you. This also seems to allow the front wheels on mower to properly fall in to the wheel racks on the lift bs just resting on that pin.

    I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing that issue. It can definitely be frustrating when trying to use a mower jack. One potential solution might be to try placing a heavy object, like a cinder block or sandbag, behind the jack to help stabilize it. Additionally, if possible, ensure that the ground surface is level and firm to prevent any unwanted movement. Always prioritize safety when working with heavy equipment. I hope this helps, and I appreciate you sharing your concern! 🛠️🚜🔧

    I bought one of these as a Christmas gift for my Son-in-law. Sorry to say he waited too long before assembling it and it was, "OUT OF WARRANTY" when we found out the pump didn't work. I contacted Harbor Freight and never got a response.

    Thanks for watching and the comment +CapnJackSB! Sorry to hear. Before I purchased ours, I remembering reading a few reviews on-line of people who had the same experience with the pump/hydraulics not working. Very unfortunate, thankfully ours is still working after 2 seasons of use and will hopefully hold up. Is there a Harbor Freight near your son-in-law that he could try and return it to or talk to someone directly?

  • @CapnJackSB

    @CapnJackSB

    I tried Harbor Freight again, but they wont even talk to me without the receipt. I even tried having Master Card search their records for the transaction without success. It's only a hydraulic jack. I should be able to fix it. It acts like the check valve is stuck open as it wont hold pressure. We'll have to wait for some warmer weather though. I must say though, over the years, I've bought a lot of tools from Harbor Freight and this is the first problem I've had.

    I totally understand your concern about space. It's true, lifts can be quite substantial in terms of footprint. Depending on your setup, it can be a trade-off between convenience and space. If you're limited on space, there are some more compact options available that might better suit your needs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    If this is a 300lbs rated lift, doesn't lifting the front half of the Z540R exceed the weight rating of the lift? The Z540R is at least 700lbs and half of that would be 350lbs. But then again most of the weight of the mower would be in the rear where the engine is.
