Hi! My husband and I retired in the Philippines. We are from Saskatoon SK. I’m Filipino Canadian and he is a Caucasian. He loves the Philippines., We are visiting Canada at the moment for 1 month traveling 4 provinces to see family and friends. My husband can’t wait to go back to the Philippines.He calls it his home. Btw we are based in Dumaguete area. You should visit Negros Oriental Island it’s beautiful there.

I''m also from Canada (Québec) and have been to the Phillipines on 3 occasions inthe past 2 yesrs. I'm planning to move to Dmg. In November or December. I think that it's great that you too have fell in love with the Phillipines & the awsome people there. However I can't help it to wonder how are planning on making a living over there ? Personally I don't have that issue to worry about as I'm retired from the RCMP, and have various sources of income coming in . The Phillipines & the people there are truely fantastic. I revisited Canada earlier this year for 4 months and It shocked me big time how ridiculously expensive it is now compared last time I was there but it is still a very beautiful, breathtaking country nature wise. And its a great country also if you are a trans because Canadians are very respectful. I just got back in Cebu.

Stay humble and friendly and you will find real happiness in the company of the local Filipinos. I also understand that the government recognized the need to be more open and accommodating to foreigners who decide to live in the Philippines. But be aware that the Philippines, in the major cities anyway, is not much different from other countries, There will be bad elements that out of desperation, will try to take advantage of foreigners. Just be mindful of that to reduce your chance of becoming a victim or someone ruining your day. I wish you the best of luck, I am sure you'll be fine. I left the Philippines many years ago and now, I come back only to visit family members, friends, and relatives when time allows. God bless and may He keep you safe always...

Philippines is great you can go to city places like bgc and makati to beaches like palawan and boracay and your money goes a long way so that's a huge plus

I'm happy for you! Hope you'll have good time in that country. Its cheaper to live there. If you have $1000 you'll have a decent life in the provinces. With $1500 hundred its a very comfortable life. In California the apartments are very expensive. Two bedrooms around $2,000 plus a month. So, you need $5,000 a Month in California for two people. In Philippines $5,000 you'll be a rich person.
