    Thinking of making the move but it’s such a BIG change …. after 45 years in the US it’s giving me a lot of anxieties but the US is not what it used to be and not going in the right direction imo. Hoping the change is what I need.

    Another awesome vlog, thank you! I had hoped to be fulfilling my goal of living in Thailand a year ago. I had all my ducks in a row and two weeks before flying out, boom! I am now on the other side of major surgery and waiting not so patiently, for clearance to resume my plan to 'live' and thrive in Chiang Mai. Your vlogs keep my dream alive!! 😊❤

    We have 6 weeks now before our 2 week trip. Im glad you stated you and Kendall had a great life in S.C. because we have a amazing life here, its really good, if you stay home, dont travel to places that are infested with crime thats getting much more difficult, turn off television, (no politics). The cost of everything is the worst we have ever seen. We put out a minimum of 4,800.00 monthly and are not finding value here anymore. Thank you!

    You remind me of a popular Thai song when I was kid, "...don't be afraid of the 🌧️". Thais are not afraid of the rain but we are afraid of flood when it rains too much. But you are right, rainy season is beautiful with green scenery and waterfalls. Thanks for reminding me of the beauty of rainy season 🙏.

    Thank you so much for this video. Moving to Thailand is an active conversation for me, which means the tax situation is also an active part of that conversation. I'll go digging through your videos later for the one that covers the tax law. I do have a weirdly specific question for you, though. I have a furkid (a dog) - she's very important to me, and relocating her with us is something I'll want to understand thoroughly before I do it. Do you already have a video about what that process looks like that I should keep an eye out for as well? Edit: You do! Found them. =)

  • @kevinp8108

    @kevinp8108

    @raen9256 - the new tax law is a major NOTHING BURGER!! If you're already being taxed in your home country, you won't be double taxed in Thailand due to the tax treaty Thailand has with countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Any interest you make on savings accounts and investments back in your home country will be taxed by your home government, not Thailand. This new tax law is targeted at Thai citizens who make their money outside of Thailand and wait over a year to bring it into the country tax-free. Thailand is now closing that loop-hole for any monies that has not yet been taxed by any government coming into Thailand. Don't sweat it!

    Thanks Tony, for all your videos on Thailand. They are always very informative and very interesting! It's true, the news and life in general in the United States isn't the way it used to be, so sad! I'm nearing retirement, and Thailand is very high on my list of countries to move to. I love watching your videos because you tell it like it really is there. The good as well as what little bad you've seen there! It would be a big adjustment moving there, but the peace of mind, the weather and the friendly people of Thailand would make any adjustments well worth while! Thanks for sharing! Take care!

    @user-uu4ds7iv8u - Don't blindly move to Thailand based on what you've seen on KZread! It would be best if you went to visit Thailand long-term, 3 months to 1 year before you make that leap to living there permanently. The hot tropical climate can make you doubt your decision to move there.

    @@kevinp8108 Thanks for the advice. It is a very serious move, and I would never make a life-changing move without checking things out first! I like hot weather, but from what I've seen it can be very demanding on the body over there because the hot weather is persistent! But, unless you fit into a certain mold here in the US, living here has become so depressing, what used to be good is now bad and what was bad is now good, and I don't see how this will ever change, so it's time to start looking overseas for a better life and Thailand looks like a great option!

    @@user-uu4ds7iv8u You're preaching to the choir! I am a Thai-American who has lived in the US since the age of 2 and now I am 56 yo. I, too, am preparing my early retirement in Thailand in the next 2-3 years. I am a dual citizen so I don't have to worry about visas! I absolutely agree with you about the US. I am seeking a more peaceful retirement in Thailand, away from the divisive environment of the US and its government. I was in Thailand last year twice, each time for one month. This year I will be going in October for also one month. Each visit, I am scoping out a place where I can possibly see where I can retire in peace. So far, I am looking at Hua Hin or Cha Am. Both town are not far from Bangkok. The heat is brutal because of the humidity for someone from Southern California. We have heat but not humidity here. I am slowing getting used to the weather with each visit.

I am considering Thailand actually where you are in Chang Mai, I plan to visit next month for a visit to check things out. I would like to know if you have time to meet up, and answer some questions, like is there Christian churches there, and the visa process. I am 60 years old and 100% VA medically retired so I have a pension of about 4K per month. Anyway I would love to hear from you.
