Before we moved to Tenerife 22 years ago we made a budget, 1,200 Euro/ Month. During five years we only watched Spanish TV. After 10 years we did the language test and became Spanish citizen ( a lot of paperwork). We have been to all Islands and most parts on mainland Spain. We LOVE our country!

¡Que casualidad! I am from Vienna and settled in Santa Cruz over Christmas. Pretty much for the same motives. Tired of seemingly endless lockdowns, bad winter weather and drawn by the overall better mood of the people in Tenerife. Not quite as brave as you guys though as I kept my place in Vienna and plan to spend about half of the year here, the other there. Love your videos and thanks for the inspiration.

Here is a thought; could you maybe make a video with your kids where they would talk about adjusting the Spanish language and schools? Salut, v-am descoperit de la Vlad, imi place foarte mult de voi, felicitări pentru decizie, ma regăsesc in vlogurile voastre, am trăit și noi o experiența asemănătoare : după 15 ani de Canada(Montreal) ne-am mutat in sudul Franței (Toulouse), integrarea a fost ok pt părinți(noi) dar nu așa de bine pt copii, ne-am întors in timpul pandemiei înapoi in Montreal dar acum regret un pic, poate trebuia sa ne dam mai mult timp sa încercam. For instance - where did you find Creme fraiche and when is the rush hour, what are your favourite supermarkets and restaurants. Which areas do you go on the weekend. You mentioned that you learned a lot - please give us some concrete tips.

We found the best creme fraiche at Mercadona. Favorite super-marktes are Mercadona & Lidl. Rush hour is at around 13:30. On weekends we go to Las Teresitas here in the North or Taganana Mountains, Benijo, mostly in the north

...on Sunday go to Santa Cruz, park your car after you`ve passed the Auditorium on the right side. Give the waiters one or two € and your car is save! Then walk over the great fleemarket direkt to the africa market. Here go `into the earth `market and buy or look for the unbeleaveable fishmarket - have fun!

We love Summer season and sea, and having 20+ degrees temperature year-round would be great for us. We like privacy and quietness, so I was wondering if there are places where you can still be close to the city and civilization(5-10 min drive) but at the same time in a quiet home away from neighbors. Also which Tenerife cities are better and have the best weather? How is the internet over there as we need that for work?

Hey guys we're planning to do the same as you do, thanks for the inspiration. Question, did you present your job contract when applying for a NIE (as there are also other ways to qualify)? If so, is it a Spanish or a non-Spanish contract? The reason I'm asking is that when working (fully) online Spanish contracts have a lesser pay than e.g. German or French contracts (for the same job).

Hey, no for the white NIE you dont need a job contract. For the green NIE you dont necessary need a work contract. You need 5000 € / adult in a spanish bank account and I think 300 € / kid. I have a spanish work contract

So it's good to know the green NIE will be within reach regardless. Your info is more clear than that of the Spanish consulate :) Keep it up with the video's too, we're especially curious about the northern part of the island!

Hello Isabella and thanks a lot for watching. I cant speak much about the south, including Los Cristianos. For us the south was not an option because we wanted to feel more "local" and los cristianos is one of the main hubs for tourists. Imagine living in an apartment building where your neighbours change every two weeks :) That was our concern. Dont get me wrong, Los Cristianos is beautiful and pretty much all year round you can sunbathe and dive in the ocean. We live in the north which is les "touristy"...in the capital. We feel that we have more options here including for our kids than in the south. However, we cant really compare because we never lived in the south longer than 1 month:) So my opinion is biased, but I would say we love the north more:) Maybe come here book an aribnb for 2 weeks in south and 2 weeks in Santa Cruz and then you can decide

I'm surprised you spend much time in Los Cristianos at all. It's the most touristy worst part for most people. Normally where drunk English people go. El medano is beautiful if you haven't been. The hotels are expensive but Airbnb or rentals have good deals. Puerto de la Cruz is great for budget and el medano is great for living in luxury for a fair price. Just my thoughts though. Peace

How does it looks like tax wise if I'm working remotely for a non spanish company and live in Canaries / Spain for a year? Am I obliged to pay my taxes there in such case? Also, how do you guys move around? Did you rent / buy a car for this one year you're living there?

South if you are a foreigner, almost everyone in the south of the Island can talk in English because is the tourist part of the island, you won't feel so displaced.

Depends, on several factors. South si definitely warmer, but also a lot more touristy. If want to live more "spanish" then north. You can use buses, called here "guagua", the whole island is covered, however I dont know much about beeing on schedule. Regarding work...i suggest finding work online :)
