    My dream is to get my brother to make a homestead down their! Have a couple horses and live the life. One of my brothers loves to ride the bike along side some nice country roads, but both of them love lakes, and mountains. So I will have to somehow propose to them, that Ocala Florida is a great place to call home and relax, then they can take all the plane trips they want to the mountains or lakes. Ya Know. My rest of the family wants to move to tenseness, and have a lake front house and my brothers and I will most likely be able to afford a horse compound on a budget, and I will stay on the property in a small house, taking care of it and the animals of course. I can't stand the idea of having the money and being where it can get pretty cold here and their. Ya Know. So some how I'll have to convince them. I mean we live less then 2hours away from two wonderful ski resorts already. One for starters and the other tall, has a top lodge etc, and bottom. So I think it will be better in the future for the horses. Just the horses, but I'd have to get them to love the landscape too, and the community somehow. Me too. I'm afraid they want to have their compound closer to the mountains and a lake. Which may not be a bad thing after-all. As long as you have the money for it, and I'm only in it, to take care of the animals, and make some trails for the horses. Not so much of the skiing, but hey once i get used to taking care of them, I could probably fit some time in and be like yeah, Florida was a stupid idea. You know. I got a lot to figure out about, but I do know that I'm better off with the family anyway :( :) Together, they'd make us all successful, and if that means sacrificing the nice Florida weather. Then I may have to do that, but the horses their etc, are my horses! Hard choice!

    What I want to know is can/will insurance companies deny you buying hurricane and sink hole insurance in Ocala? That's what I'm most concerned about as a person who just started researching online.

  • @StephanieSellsOcala

    @StephanieSellsOcala

    Жыл бұрын

    OK, that is a very good question, and unfortunately, the answer is a bit complicated. But I'll take a stab at in anyway. As far as sinkhole insurance, insurers in Florida are required to provide "catastrophic ground cover collapse" coverage as part of a standard homeowners policy. According to the Florida Dept. of Financial Services,. to qualify as a catastrophic ground cover collapse, the event has to meet ALL of the following conditions: The abrupt collapse of the ground cover A depression in the ground cover clearly visible to the naked eye Damage to a principal building including the foundation The principal building being condemned and ordered to be vacated by the government agency authorized by law to issue such an order for that principal building You can buy separate sinkhole policy, and all insurers in Florida are required to offer one, but they have the right to inspect your property and do any needed geological testing. If those tests reveal that sinkhole activity is present on the property or within a certain distance of the property to be insured, the insurance company can decline to provide you with sinkhole coverage. And if an insurance company is willing to issue a homeowner's policy on the home, then they cannot deny you hurricane coverage, unless there is an actual named storm within a certain distance of the coast. In that case, all insurance companies stop writing new policies until the danger is passed. Hurricane coverage is a combination of wind and flood policies. You will have a separate hurricane deductible for any wind damage, and then you would want/need separate flood insurance policy to cover water damage. Again, that's just a basic version, and there are some other variables that come into play, but I hope that it helped, just a little. 😉

    We do have sinkholes in Central Florida, but it's not that common, and they aren't those ones that you see swallowing a whole house. Those just make the news 'cause they're catastrophic. The main sinkhole issues that you see involve settling cracks, and like I said, not that common.
