As a part of renting. Part of the rent goes into taxes, repairs, etc. In apartment complex, you have to follow their rules. You are surrounded by other tenants. What are you going to do when they raise your rent every year? Landlords are the ones who get tax breaks. NOT YOU!

All of these apartments would be $3000 or more in California 😭

Some people don’t want the hassle of property taxes, repairs, and other fees with a home. And it seems it is just her so I am guessing a home would be a lot of unnecessary space.

Well as a family man myself who plans to move my family to Dallas in the next 6 months or so I plan to rent first and then buy a home. We are a family of four and could use the room but we are renting right now in Virginia and have a good amount of room but as you said we in our situation are losing out by not owning a home but in the young lady’s situation I believe she will be just fine.

How does it change the income to your bank account if someone rents over getting a home? Let people make their own choices. It really has no effect on you. Besides homes now vs homes then, they're not the same. One good hurricane, your house is GONE.
