Your delivery on stuff is hilarious. I laughed out loud at a few parts. My wife and I are looking to move down to Canberra from Sydney soon. It seems like when we tell people there are two reactions. 1) "BUT WHY CANBERRA?!?!?!" 2) "Oh yeah, Canberra's pretty nice! You're gonna love it!" We are introverts and don't mind getting away from all the hustle bustle of Sydney and the housing prices.

The coast is only 2 hours away from Canberra, about the same time it takes to get from Parramatta to one of Sydney's beaches via public transport.

for people flying in to mess around for a couple of days, how's the public transport? doesn't really look like a walk-able city from google maps.

What's the conversion for Aussie dollars to British pounds ? In the UK a bacon and egg buttie costs about £3.50 - £4.00 . .$14 seems a lot for bacon and egg sandwich !!

You mentioned having a car is necessary, but I see that your road footage with from a motorcycle helmet. Did you have both when you were living there, or if you just had the motorcycle, was that enough? Your delivery on your insights was hilarious!

I got by for years in Canberra with only motorbikes - they had big panniers for doing the shopping though

a whole highway closed because some dummy stopped still IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY and their car got wrecked horribly (they were okay) this happened when I was going to camp cooba in year 6

Haha native Canberran here who moved to the Far South Coast years ago because I was so sad there was "no beach" in Canberra. Turns out when I live near one I don't actually go there, so I'm moving back to Canberra.

That whole "which department do you work in?" nonsense is more likely from career public servants and a huge portion of them travel here from other parts of Australia to do grad programs. I'm actually from Canberra and couldn't really tell you about the hierarchy of public service departments except to say that people from DFAT seem to think they're a bit of alright.

I grew up in Canberra.

I've applied for the ACT police and Im from Sydney. I'm not sure if I'll enjoy it to be honest as Im in the talent pool for the Queensland police as well. Queensland just seems so much better than what the ACT has to offer. Any advice or thoughts?

Nah I was 3 seconds behind and then they slammed on the brakes to make a turn two lanes over. Stopped well in time but the law clearly says you can’t turn left from the right lane

If you like boring and public servants then Canberra place for you. Oh and of course a lake right in the middle full of carp. Lived there for a few years and regretted every minute of it. It has crime, druggies and homeless people just like many places but for some reason most Canberrans think they are so much better than the rest of us humans. Nice outside of Canberra I must say but I will take Sydney over Canberra any day
