Name suggestion: Hestia, Greek goddess of Fire, hearth, home, and protecting the house. Vesta would be the roman equivalent. Phoenix is always a good shout but a touch overused for fire names however still suits her well, and another fire goddess is 'Brigid' the pagan goddess of Fire, healing, spring and renewal

Name suggestion: Boitatá. It's a mythical Brazilian fire snake. They're protectors of nature. The legend is thought to be based around spontaneously igniting swamp gas.

2 years later and the Argentines def have strong trees, and the ledges happily were reinforced for a gravid Phoenix. From ashes to a zoo to breeding. Beautiful

I'm uber happy you guys included IUCN red list on the signs! Most places don't, and simply mention it in the text, which is kinda glossing over it.

So I work at the Virginia Aquarium, and we have a softshell turtle as well. Just a little tip, if kids can't figure out which one it is, just tell them to look for the swimming pancake. It gets them laughing and also helps them find the turtle!

To weigh in on the lighting debate, I used to work at the National Aquarium, and pretty much all of our enclosures were lit up, with almost no lighting in the hallways. It obviously came with some drawbacks, but I think it was amazing to showcase the animals. If I was in your position, I’d set the overhead lights suuuuper low, and then have the enclosure lights be the predominant light source. This also helps with animal stress, since they will see their own reflection more than a bunch of big apes walking around

I am so hooked, I have been watching these over and over again and seeing how much you love your animals, really warms my heart, I love snakes, lizards etc but I have a fear of spiders more so the ones that are large or very obvious ones, its hard to describe the ones I fear. I know they can't hurt me, especially the ones that we have here in England (Midlands) and we deal with more the house spiders and they are great for dealing with flies or other bugs but yuk.... what can I do....

"ardor" might be one for the Argentinan snakes since it means to burn with passion/fierceness in Spanish. i saw someone also commented ember which was the other thought. So happy for your guys!

I definitely recommend having the lights dimmed when all the enclosures are done and lit up it will make viewing inside the enclosures easier and look insanely cool.

I think they are going to do this. I believe they said so in once of the last updates.

I recently went to an aquarium and some animals didn't even have name tags much less, information so it's great to see your doing informational signs, thank you do much yall!

Name suggestion: I think Azula (after a character from avatar) would fit very well..it ties the theme of fire and strength together and I think the name sounds very royal and mighty :3

Ooooh Lauryn's drawings for the info panels would make perfect stickers! Then kids could get a sticker that matches their favorite snake, or during parties you could give every kid a different sticker and they'd go find the snake and write about it!

As a firefighter, I would be really excited to see the Argentine boa. Her story is impressive and tragic.

So happy to see all y’all’s progress! The enclosures are beautiful and it’s awesome to watch the snakes explore their new homes! Also I really like Phoenix! my ideas name are Ember, and Akiho (Japanese origin) meaning ‘fire and autumn’

The fact Emily can sit and stand normally in a snake home shows how big they are and how much work they put in

My partner, Joey, suggested Azula for the female, and Zuko for the male (if he needs a name as well) :) love seeing all the new enclosures!!

Y’all need to make a zoo tour video. It would be so cool to see some of the new reptiles you got in their huge enclosures

I saw her at Grand Opening! She looks so dragon-like I took a picture to show my mom. That said, I really like the idea of Mai and Zuko from AtLA.

I remember seeing the Argentine boa at grand opening! Watching her climb super high was amazing, and now knowing her story, I’m so happy I was able to see her in person 💕

Back in 1979, Gloria Gaynor had a hit song called "I Will Survive." I think you should consider naming your Argentine Boa Gloria, because she survived.

If I survived a fire, I wouldn't want to be named fire- I would want to be named after its foe. And while I know the fire tetrahedron would state a lack of oxygen or chemical chain reaction are valid ways to put out a fire, we all know the classic opposite of fire is water. So, I would suggest Ceto. Not only the Greek goddess of water, she is linked to dragons and serpents through her many children.

Reslly loved how olive’s colors contrast the rest of the enclosure. Deffinitely my fave. So far at least. I’m sure the rest of the enclosures look amazing now that they are done.

"Ember" is a name I'm fond of for a fire name, even if it is pretty simple, and its one I've used in my writing, but another name I've seen that I really liked was "Akosua." Or For a male name I like "Vulcan."

Calida is a Spanish word meaning Heated, could be a cute double-related name with it being in Spanish (for the Argentine part ;))and having a meaning related to her history. Ashe might be a little morbid but it's cute. Blaise could be cute like Blaise Zabini. Vesta is the Roman goddess of the hearth, that could be cool.

I reeeeeally think you guys should dim the overhead lights a lot, or completely turn them off! You’d be surprised how much ambient light the enclosures may put off, but (for added safety) you could also light the walkways with led strips or garden walkway lights. I think it would really highlight the gorgeous enclosures you’ve created and keep glares off the glass

I recommended naming her Ember!! She looks like and embered log during a fire! I also love everyone suggesting Hestia!!

I know you’ll have probably already picked a name but, she seems like a “Black Bean” to me!💚🖤 and I went with “Black Bean” because she was a little bean of luck that survived that fire. And she probably had a lot of black soot on her when she was found so I feel like “Black Bean” is a really amazing name!❤️❤️

the zoo I work at (which has the largest reptile house in the southern hemisphere) actually makes it pretty dark inside the reptile house so that the colours of the enclosures and the animals pop and make the exhibits even more interesting. We only have wall lamps to light the path.

I think “Firefly” or “Ember” would be a cute name for the Argentine Boa.

12:20 May I suggest a few names: -Mboi, it's the Guaraní word for "snake", and their distribution range overlaps with that of the Guaraní people. - Usuahia, which is the capital city of Tierra del Fuego, a province in Argentina named like that because of the bonfires the natives would use to keep themselves warm (it's the southernmost province of Argentina). - Pampa, pretty self explanatory For the male: - Quiroga: an Uruguayan author, he wrote stories about nature, in one of them all the characters are snakes (it's called Anaconda, nothing to do with the film) Mboi would also work for him.
