I'm playing a lot of Icarus lately. From a QoL perspective I'd say it's definitely worth playing enough missions to at least get yourself a suit with oxygen and water slots, if you don't already have one available. I think I've heard if you store all your gear you can leave your open world, change your load out with a suite etc.. and come back without losing anything, may want to look into it.

can confirm have done myself, I put any current gear from workshop into drop pod and then leave, you just need to redrop to world by loading the world save you left with new loadout as like going into a mission but you use load tab at menu after character been selected and pick the open world game you want to drop into if have more than 1.

Was thinking that too. Like a deck along the whole top of the outside wall(good lookouts spot, watch the rockets come in). Also needs some windows :)

I built a stable with my biffalo in it, and i put rain collector near its door ...and i built a 3 floor warehouse with lots of cupboard with a rooftop so i can shoot from there and put some solar panel later

Happy Birthday Z! Also make an oxygen container, fill with oxidizer, and put it in your suit slot. I’ve never had any fires in a base unless I held a torch to something. A roof will block the rain but not needed. Put some windows in up top for more light during the day. Keep up the good work. Keep giving me ideas myself.

The best source of light early game. Is actually the candles... It's cheap to make and it doesn't set anything on fire. It's under the rustic furniture.

Hey Z, I'm about 200+ hours in on Icarus, and I'm on my second character headed toward 50. I started a new character for Styx, I'm liking the new map so far. Good luck on the cave base, the first few that I had were epic fails, as the code wasn't good and mine were wiped out entirely when I respawned. It was a whole thing.

Oh a few things that might help out, Z. If you right click on an item (to be placed) and click deploy, you don't have to move it to your toolbar. Saves a little time. Don't be too scared of bears. Get a good head start running away, then turn toward it, STOP moving, and shoot it in the face. It will continue to charge at you, just side step it. When you do, run for a few seconds, then rinse/repeat. You should have a spot on your person for Oxide, you can just put a stack in there so you don't have to remember to consume it. Same with your water bottle/skin. HIGHLY recommend that you build the dehydrator, some of the meat you're picking up makes jerky that gives you more STA and HP. Also, eat 3 different foods to stack benefits. There's a berries & watermelon bowl that is hella easy to make, gives a ton of STA. Keep up the good work, brother, you're looking good!

Happy birthday Z! This build inspired my new game base build that is on a cliff over a cave

if you are going to stay in the Cave Base, dismantle the lake Base and get back the materials to use for Cave Base Expansion. you need to extend further out so you have an elevated open space for your Rain Collector and any other equipment that needs to be placed outside.

If the lake base is near the landing spot then it's worth keeping at least some of it, it serves two purposes; a welcome base for other people or your other characters joining so its easier to get started, and also a place to store all your gear if you are launching back up and getting Workshop items before returning so you don't lose crafted gear or have a long gearless run to and from your drop pod. If you do make a "welcome hut" then just be aware of where you put it to reduce the chances a drop pod will land on it, the "set landing slots" mechanic was recently removed to increase player limits, so unfortunately landing locations are a little more random now. Other than that just consider proximity of drop pods to the welcome hut site and anything that can make a meal of a new arrival. Also would be worthwhile to get a steel pickaxe going so you can mine all ore nodes, then consider setting up some deep mining, and adding a copper mod to your pickaxe as copper usually becomes the limiting factor. I usually beeline for Steel Pickaxe and Iron Knife on all maps, as those two enable the higher-level mining and skinning nodes/bodies. Later tool levels (platinum and Titanium) offer limited efficiency improvements but they do have a lot more durability, the latter being handier. To aid moving you can increase slots by adding mods to your armour, to handle carry weight capacity get 4 points in the Carry On talent, use a Neves Pickaxe, or make use of tamed animals. Carry On talent avoids a lot of weight issues.

Morning Z. New player here. Just got the game a few weeks ago. Dabbling in outpost mode until open world gets resource respawn added. I know the oxidizer almost eliminated the oxygen problem. And I already learned about watermelons for food/water. But after just a few days in open world the area around our base looks so barren. As well as hoping to have more people so it feels more like a real world. Hopefully they surprise us this week by adding rrspawn to OW. Enjoying your videos and outlook on the game.

I Got Icarus when openworld was released . I love it. Was a bit agaist it with the timed missions before.

Started playing Icarus because of your series.

You don't have to worry about beams. the stairs and floors you put into the side of the cave base provide a structural stability as if it was on the ground (which is why its blue when you place it). This gives a lot of structural support to the other components, so for this build pillars are less needed.

I had stopped playing almost same time you did due to the whole prospect thing of starti over every time! But have recently started playing in open world having fun thanks to continuity, would be great if they can add pause option in single player!

You may not want to invest too much in that base. It is better to build over a river so you can use a few Water Wheels for sustainable power vs always needing to scavenge to make biofuel. Water Wheel will run indefinitely and power all your lights and some of the smaller power equipment. Pretty sweet for now though. Dismantle your other base and use all the parts to conserve resources.

Playing the game, even opened up 2 servers, one Olympus open world and a Styx open world. Hoping they add some kind of lock or code system to containers and doors so as a server owner I can open it more to the public.

You should take a look at Grounded on the gamepass (or steam if you want to buy it) now that it is out of early access. I does look cartoonish, but it is not an easy survival, espacially early game. The spider alone will make you wish you are fighting crocs again :P. I'm aving a lot of fun with my girlfriend, because you can adjust the setting to make the game easier, but if you leave the setting as is, the game can be really hard sometimes.

You may have figured this out before my response here since I am 4 weeks late lol. But I was thinking if it rains inside on the top floor it might be a blessing. You can grow your water catchment out inside and still catch water. Just a thought! Lol

If you put down ramps you can climb up hills.... So... Build some ramps or stairs to walk upwards...

Maybe your old house can become a hunting and fishing house 🏠

There is a cave in the middle of the lake that leads to two different caves that has alot of ore! and on the other side of the lake from where you live is a mini world boss in form of a big black wolf!

Returning to character select when the trees catch fire will make the trees not be on fire when you log back in. I normally don't bother unless a bunch of trees around my base go up in flames at the same time.

I bought this game on December the 26th of 2022 and love it I've already got 72 hours in it

I don't play the game, I was thinking about to buy it now on sale, but the mixed reviews worries me. Yet I really enjoy watching you playing, even more, since a I read a lot of comments, as this game is kinda hard on solo.
