Moving in Paintball

Спорт

Moving in paintball is necessary. We all know that! One of my Patreon had asked how to get over the fear or hesitation to move so let's talk about it!

That’s a great que for players: “don’t grow roots”

What I've told new players for as long as I can recall, as far as helping out new players overcome the fear of getting shot is this. If you're moving quickly, or really at all, paint is going to transfer it's velocity and overall force per foot pound of energy over a larger area of your body. To put it simply, getting shot will hurt less if you're moving because the force of your moving body will help "rebound" some of that energy of the ball traveling towards you. If you're just sitting there and 10 rounds come rocketing in to hit a stationary target....your body is going to take all ten rounds and have zero resistance to it. You'll take the full force of all those balls and have nothing to counter it. So, in reality, standing still actually hurts more than moving around. It's physics.

Great advice!!! Short and simple so it's easy to learn from. And yet, through for the short time you took to go over everything. If this video is for you. Watch it before you go to the field every time. Take time to WALK THE FIELD. Try to understand how it plays and why. When your not playing. WATCH OTHERS PLAY. LEARN what they are doing that is working or what you could have done to give yourself a better chance. There are 2 types of failure. Minor and Major. Minor failure is when something does not work out the way you expected. Major failure is when you don't bother to learn from the minor failure, and when your so afraid of the minor; that you don't even try. You can't learn much if your too afraid to try. Your team is counting on you to try to learn/do your job. Don't let the fear own you! Be heroic in the endeavor!

My problem isn’t moving, my problem is sometimes being tooo aggressive at times and choosing my wrong battles, and knowing when to bunker down and when not to 😂

Dude same. Just this last weekend I didn't realize I had zero support from behind and dropped into an enemy nest 7 deep. Walked out looking like three types of paint lmao

Yea you want to think if the move will help your team win or not. Same goes for bunkering. It helps having someone more experienced watch you and give pointers 👍

same. i dont mind paint but i want to stay alive so my team can utilise body advantage. i often overextend why i must balance between calculated risk and when agressively push for oportunities.

The tips being given about knowing the field and the angles works for being over aggressive as well. If you know there is 2 checks on your first move 2 one the second move and 3 on the third move. Your not just running down the field. Your doing your job of checking your list of angles and positions. Also work with your team on communication. Did you communicate the results of your check offs? Did you listen to the kill count? Do you know where the opponents are? Is one of your teammates telling you something you need to know that your not listening too? Is one of your teammates directing you where and when to go or a specific target to get? When you know the field. You know the angles. And you know where your opponents are and where they are shooting. You can run the field easily. When you don't know these things. You walk off the field. When making a heroic play type move. Know all the spots you can dive behind, when you get caught by surprise. If I'm making a run down the side of the field. I better know how many bunkers I have that I can dive behind to save me and how far apart they are from each other. If I'm going into a big gap. I usually slow down when I get to the last bunker before the big gap. Then run fast in the gap so if a player notices me I'm more likely to live making it to the last hide then I am to try to shoot them your while on the run. depending on many variables Being afraid to move is believing there is a shooter behind every bunker waiting for you personally. Being overly aggressive. Is thinking no one is ever going to look at you and it's ok to run down the field ignorantly.

A few years ago I’d stay as a backman to learn more about the other players moves.. now? I’m not afraid to run up if need be. It’s progression

the 2 things you can learn that will make you a better player is... 1. learn to lose. (not saying just do your best, no I am saying that learning to lose will help take the sting out of not winning) 2. no risk... no reward... you must try and advance up the field and shoot out other players. if you dont take the risk, you are just a casualty waiting to happen. be smart and check your opponents into their bunkers and then move. There is good logic in this video

hey greg i got a question, when do you think a team should make the move into a higher up division? we are only rookies but every other team is entering into d5 except us. we are also a new team but weve all played together at least a year and we have had one tournament locally so far it was rookie.

  • @howtoplaypaintball

If you are moving forward in the division consistently and/or winning you should move up. You don’t want to go up too quick BUT that quicker movement could also help you learn. From what I am seeing from your question it seems like it might be better to stay in your current division this season and then figure it out as you move forward 👍

right on thank you, ive only been playing a year but i decided to start a team on my own and im doing it literally from the ground up and some of my guys have been playing for years others only a few months so im trying to figure out how to approach the 2021 season with all the other teams entering into d5 in the RMPL ( its the closest ranked event near us) so im using alot of your drills in our practices and i will continue to follow you and keep up. thank you for what you are doing for paintball. god bless brother take care🤙🏻
