Moving Houses is always bad news, now imagine: you are in Amsterdam, where the houses in the city center are very small, without an elevator, and the stairs are so small that you can't pass even a small sofa. It doesn’t look like a nightmare to me. I think it’s just smart city planning. Optimize the space for living and the develop tools like these to compensate for the disadvantages of having narrow, steep stairs. Also, no need to build an elevator in every building. Just build this portable elevators and move there were they are temporarily needed. Efficient.

Is a nightmare on the sense that you are forced to get one of this services in order to smoothly relocated. If we try to do it on our own its complicated. Would great to have an elevator in every house, not just to facilitate the relocations, but above all to allow everyone (included older people and people with reduced mobility) to live anywere. I agree with the positive side of the optimize the space and that's great. Offcourse it's the city center with the amazing historic canal houses and that's what we need to deal with.

@@FabioTheMan5 That's understandable. I guess it depends on what your priorities are and what you are optimizing for.

It´s increasingly common in Germany, too, even in places that aren´t that narrow. People are tired of lugging heavy stuff up and down the stairs when there is such a convienient alternative.

Exactly on the fact that without one of these specialized moving companies, with their multi level window elevator able to bring heavy boxes and large stuff effortless like fridges and sofas and so on upstairs. I've moved a few times and also helped a few friends relocating within the city and without these moving companies is a nightmare indeed. Depending on the apartment and location etc but generally speaking it's a pain to drag a fridge all the way up to the 4th floor in these small stairs, while praying to don't get a ticket because of the badly parking van we just left in the way due to lack of nearby free spot. On the video you can see they block the whole road for a few hours and need a special permit for it..

@@FabioTheMan5 Don't I know it, I live in Amsterdam, but it is what it is and the solution is pretty much better than anywhere else . The companies are there for a reason and you don't have to pull it up yourself with a rope, I've done that in another move.

I need someone to do a very small job, one oak old desk in 2-3pieces, but the old fashioned way with ropes, only 10' down, out a door in the wall, no stairs.

Okay, so I haven't watched the video, but I have read the title and description (book covers should be judged more often, for an appropriate metaphor). You say it is a nightmare, and a company has come to solve that nightmare???? You need to understand that this is the way they have been doing stuff for centuries. That's what those hooks are for on the top of apartments. I also think you are being contradictory in your title and description; you say that is a nightmare, but then you call upon a service that has existed for ages... it's like an American coming to Delft seeing all the trains, cycles, and discretionary car trips going along their day, then proclaiming that general movement is a nightmare and that no one is getting anywhere because people can't take shortcuts through residential areas in their cars.

Exactly, is a nightmare without these specialized moving companies. I experienced a few time on my own to relocate and damm i felt how hard was to brind an 80kg washing machine up all the way in the narrow steep stairs. I'm not trying to hide all the complications of a relocation here, I'm just showing a solution to the existing problem.
