    If you are watching this for the very first time; I suggest three totes the same size not just the one. One inside the next, inside the next will keep them from bowing when filled with water. Makes them much stronger. And they don't cost that much. I use kiddie wading pools a lot for my goldfish, the largest size, and my fish are huge. And they seem happy enough.

    You should wait some days before adding them to the new pond, which is actually not that big as they should have. They need floating plants as well, to maintain the water clean and healthy.

    Hiya where did you get the new pond? How much money was it? Could you put that as an indoor goldfish pond? What's the pond made of? Are those bloated the prickly goldfish? They are bloated! And their bloodvessels are raised as they look very pink skinned. It's far too cold at 5 degrees centigrade you should have a form of water heater safe enough. Spiky scales on them means they need help I don't want to see them dying poor things. ❤

    Howzit. Love this idea. I want to do the same setup with a big Jim container. How do you weatherproof your pump, ect?

  • @ChrisExploresLife

    @ChrisExploresLife

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey, yeah it works really well! So very simply I bought a plastic container (like a lunchbox size) that has a lip on the top. I then cut/drilled a hole under the lip for the cords to go in and have the plugs and pump in that container. If you check out the video on the channel called DIY Patio Pond in 1 minute you can see how I made it there to get a visual idea 😊 good luck!

    I’m not sure where your from but Laguna sell a 900 litre pond tub that is free standing and can be clad in decking if you liked. I think that your fish would love that, what you have seems too small.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I'm in South Africa so not sure where it is. But in 2 months (spring here) they are getting a new pond I'm building them 😊 you don't have to, but if you subscribe you should be seeing it soon near end of Aug 😊

    Did you have a heather in the pond with the pearlscale!?! I just got 3 for my pond and I’m so scared of the low and high temps

  • @ChrisExploresLife

    @ChrisExploresLife

    2 жыл бұрын

    No I didn't have a heater. So goldfish are a species of carp and can live in water that is literally frozen over the top. For me our temps go down to 3-7 degrees celcius. So no I haven't used a heater my side and they're lived many years 😊 good luck.

    Is it just run on a pump and sponge filter system?those pearscale fancy goldfish are awesome👏👏

  • @ChrisExploresLife

    @ChrisExploresLife

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes that's 100% correct. Just an air pump and a spong filter. Keeping in mind though that I do have a big plant load too which helps to export the nutrients through its roots and growth. But other than that, super simple. Thanks so much 👊👏
