Moving from City to a Village in Bulgaria | Village Life EP 1
Ever since we came back from our big Latin America trip, we’ve been occupied with the next big thing in our lives - finally moving in together. It’s not a simple task when you live in different countries, so in this video we kind of explain the thought process behind the decision we’ve made so far.
We will have to learn A LOT in the next two years and we figured out we might as well document the journey. Clearly, we also need to learn how to talk in front of a camera, so please bear with us. Also, tips and tricks on renovating a house will be greatly appreciated!

Now this is an unexpected nice Slavic combination. Both with a Scottish accent, lol. My grandma used to say: "Господ е събирач" - Gospod e sabirach, which means that God is a collector i.e. He (randomly) collects people and brings them together so it happened with you too. Good luck with your new life, this country needs people like you. Stay blessed!

I'm Bulgarian living in USA till today I've done 4 British girls in BG and they all wanted me to get them in USA eventually marriages kids etc trailers but sorry the Sunny Beach & Golden Sands romantic stories end up always when the visit there ends up! Crude cruel Bulgarian Individualism combined with Balkanic manhood socialistic pragmatism & capitalism - get her use her drop her from the car after she cooks me breakfast get the next one!
Super video. The way the world economy is going, living in the country is the future and it's great to see rural Bulgaria revitalised. Furthermore, Bulgaria is a great location for movie and video making such as with Nu Boyana studios in Sofia.

Funny you say that cause Ida actually worked there for a while! And yes, we think that more and more people will consider living in smaller towns and villages. Thank you!

Hey! We are very happy that you enjoyed the video. We have not posted in a while but are hoping to start again in the near future. Right now our costs are very high due to the renovation plus wedding planning. However, we have calculated that 2000BGN would cover all our basic costs so for comfortable living 3-4k should suffice.
I'm SO glad KZread recommended this to me! Instantly subscribed - I look forward to seeing more content from your journey, you are absolutely adorable

Great video beautiful country I can definitely relate to moving too the countryside I'm originally from the countryside from farming background and missing it like mad I'm currently living in a city and i can't stand it and every time i plan to move back to the rural life i end up with commitment(s) that put a holt on doing so but hope to get back to the rural life ASAP and trying to stop taking any further commitments that have slowed the process of getting back to rural living it's much more peaceful a great deal less stressful Again great video hope to view more of you progress on your village home etc in the beautiful country Bulgaria Good luck in your new home god bless

We appreciate the kind words and sharing your story with us! We definitely agree about the peaceful living. Right now me and Ida have a lot of work commitments so we are not in the village as much as we would like yet. I'm back in Scotland for a few weeks to work on some projects and Ida is mostly working from Sofia. However, hopefully at some point next year we will make a full transition to the village. I can't wait for that!

Love this Jakub; best of luck buddy. Please get in touch if your still interested in doing more videos for me, your the best videographer I have ever used or worked with?
So happy for you two! Great personalities, Great kiddish-happy humor. :) and overall looks like a awesome Work together type project. I am from the USA, and love Europe Wayyy more. Small Villeage/Town is my ultimate goal, rich with farming and a older community. Now to find European chick. lol. I was born & raised here in Michigan, USA on my family's blueberry farm. It's great don't get me wrong but. Really want to travel and find where i belong. Best of luck to the both of you, I can see already i will be following along closely!

Thank you for the kind words Kyle! You definitely need to go out and travel if you want to find where you belong and also find that European chick, hahaha! I've only been to the USA once (Orlando and New York) and that was for work so I don't really know what living in the countryside is like there. However, I'm very happy living in Bulgaria even though it has the fastest declining population. Hopefully that will change at some point. Jakub

I didn't know you ten minutes ago but I already love you guys 😍😍😍 Love your personalities! I'm Bulgarian as well but I'm living in Spain, in a long distance relationship, and he's in Bulgaria (sucks but we're somehow surviving). And I would love to go back and live in my village as well, I just don't know how to do that yet. What do you guys do for a living? Do you work remotely?

Hey Mihaela, we appreciate the kind words! Being in a long distance relationship definitely sucks. How often do you see each other? I (Jakub) am a freelance video/photographer and most of my clients are international so I still need to go back to the UK or other countries from time to time to go and work. Ida is a 3D artist so she is able to work from home. In the future we would like to build some business in Bulgaria but still unsure of what that will be.

My wife is also from Bulgaria, and I hope to retire in several years to Bulgaria when our teen boys are off to college. I'd love to hear and see more about your cross mountain trek in Bulgaria. My wife speaks fondly of the old days when the mountain huts were maintained, and they would trek across them in the summer. Your village looks very green and lush, what part of Bulgaria are you in? My wife is from Sliven, so that is where we go most of the time when we visit. I've been coming for 23 years, so we've seen quite a bit of the country.
@idaandjakub
Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your story with us! We plan on making a video about the trek in the next few months. It was the best hiking experience we ever had and plan on doing something similar in the near future. Our village is not far from Sofia. Maybe around 30min drive. I'm sure that you have seen a lot in those 23 years and have had a lot of amazing experiences. 😁 What are your favourite treks here?

@@idaandjakub I haven't done any long hikes in Bulgaria, but we spend a lot of time in the Karandila mountains behind Sliven when we visit, very beautiful. We spent some time in Trigrad in the Rila mountains several years ago, also incredible. And we have been to Belogradjik a few times. We've also explored several caves that incredible across Bulgaria; Magura, Devils Throat, God's Eyes. I haven't yet been to the Rila lakes, but my wife has taken the boys there on one of the trips I didn't make. While I do like being out in nature, it's the "old stones" as my wife likes to say, that I love the most; Sofia, Plovdiv, Nessabar, Varna, Sozopol, and all the other interesting old structures. I will be in Sliven this summer with the boys, and I'm sure we'll find more places to visit.
