The officer had sifillis and lost his mind. Side effect. Common back then. The wagon idiot was there to guide Dunbar.those two are the only two that knew Dunbar was going out there and both died. Essential to the story on why nobody came to the fort sooner. The Cisco and Two Sox was gut wrenching
