Move Over Raised Stencils: Deep Dive into the Stamp Impressed Technique for Texture on Furniture
You asked and we listened! We know how much you LOVED the painted furniture technique we used on the dresser makeover featured in this video --- • Move over Raised Stenc...
But, as many of you reminded us, we didn't get a chance to show you how we finished it up on camera (we were waiting for the paint to dry and then life got in the way - you know how it goes!).
So, instead, we're sharing this super detailed step-by-step tutorial on how to do this technique from start to finish. It was originally going to be part of a paid course, but we didn't want to keep you waiting any longer - so we're sharing it now for free.
As you'll see, this refinished table makeover idea works well to create an elegant, vintage texture effect on wood and other painted surfaces. If you want to see how this technique can be used to DIY industrial style decor, check out this video:
You can also use it to create a DIY boho decor effect with chalk paint. For more on the boho vibe check out this gorgeous turquoise and blue boho dresser makeover: / cfxx6vppfiy
If you love raised stencils and texture on furniture, you're gonna want to give this technique a try! This also works as a textured paste technique.
Troweled stamp impressions are any easy way to paint furniture without sanding, or if you want to hide veneer chips or other areas of damage on furniture.
IOD moulds, IOD stamps, and IOD transfers are sold exclusively through approved stockists.

Did you clean the stamps between each time you put them down in the first stamp step?
@IronOrchidDesigns
2 жыл бұрын
It's not necessary. The beauty of this use is that each impression doesn't need to be uniform. Chalk type paint cleans off quickly and easily so if you decide you like the first impression better a wash and dry should be simple.
It ultimately looks like a thin layer of decorative plaster.
@IronOrchidDesigns

You got it! Just with less mess and clean up because it's paint. :)

How did you make the furniture stamp ..
Is it possible to do this without brush strokes?
Would it be okay if you used white wax instead of paint but love the idea
@IronOrchidDesigns

White wax would work, but the effect might not be quite as dramatic... more subtle. Try it on a sample board first to see if you like it and let us know. We'd love to hear how it turns out with white wax. Thanks for watching!
Do you have to clean of the transfer sheet each time you press?
@IronOrchidDesigns
Жыл бұрын
Hi Charlotte! I think you mean the stamp? (Don't worry, we do that all the time!) But the answer is no, you don't need to clean it off until the end. Unless of course, you feel like the paint has really clogged the stamp causing it to not leave as deep of an impression, then you can give it a rinse. You'll just want to make sure it's dry when you apply it on the paint again😊❤
What kind of paint are you using

How do you clean the stamps after? Also do I have to use chalk paint? Ty
@IronOrchidDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
Baby wipes work well for cleaning while you're in the middle of a project. Once your project is done, you can use warm (not hot) soapy water. Sometimes it helps to use a soft bristled brush, like an old tooth brush to get the paint out of the details. You can use any high quality decor paint for this project (doesn't have to be chalk paint). We just really love how chalk and mineral based paints look. :)
Just a suggestion. I can barely see the actual table and detail. More zooming in would be great. The table takes up about 5% of the screen so not able to see what it looks like.
@IronOrchidDesigns
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion Lynn♥️
So does the table have a flat surface?
@IronOrchidDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
Yes - the original dresser top was just a flat surface like you're typical dresser. If you want to cover an uneven or damaged surface, you might want to try this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHmXo8xugqfYiMY.html
Will you have to wash the stamp befor every use?
@IronOrchidDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
You'll want to wipe it periodically with a wet wipe as the paint accumulates in the design. That will help keep the impression more detailed and crisp. After you're done with stamping, you'll want to do a through clean of the stamps with warm water and a mild detergent (NO dishwasher or high heat, please).

It looks like you aren't cleaning the stamp between impressions. True?
@IronOrchidDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
The cleaning was edited out, but you'll want to do a quick clean of the stamp with a baby wipe so that the paint doesn't build up in the details of the stamp. Otherwise you might not get as good of an impression. :) Great question and thanks for asking!
