Popeye wants his spinach back.

2D characters in a 3D modeled environment is such a cool idea. It adds so much charm and draw to the game, it’s refreshing to see. It’s also far more interesting than what was pushed out legitimately DAYS after Steamboat Willie went public domain.

Star Ocean: The Second Story remains one of my favorite games because of this very aesthetic. Sam with the Paper Mario series. The contrast is just so much fun!
