This brought me back to when I was in middle and high school. My mom was the only person taking care of me and I had no siblings so it was just me and her. She worked at an oil refinery for most of my life and worked 12-15 hour days. Our schedules were opposite of each other so when I woke up in the morning for school, she'd have just gotten home and fallen asleep. She'd leave for work about an hour before I got home so I never really saw her even though we lived together. I would even purposely wake up at 4AM or earlier just to see her come home. I remember walking home from school everyday to a quiet house and always finding dinner made for me waiting to be reheated. Eating a home cooked meal that my mom made while sitting by myself at the dinner table, knowing I might not actually see my mom until the weekend, has the exact same feeling as what I think the mouse is feeling. I think he's happy for the food, but he wants someone to eat it with.

My dad is always the one left behind during a big family feast. He wants everyone to enjoy a pick the food they like, and will eat the food that they dont enjoy. Sometimes I find him sitting alone and munching just like this, while the rest of my big family including aunts and cousin spends time to their selves. I now have the habit of letting everyone pick their food first and let them eat just to accompany my dad eating dinner. I will eat whatever he is eating, not whatever I want.

It should be. This was created by the makers of Wallace and Gromit in the 80's/90's. (Also the mouse is eating Smarties, not M&M's).

I had an experience like this recently. I started my new job a month back and on my first day with all the new recruits, I sat there during lunch on my own just eating my food. With nothing but myself for company. Around the same time I had been going through a lot of mental issues that I havent fixed yet and had started to have an affect on my friends. And these type of thoughts went around in my head while I was on my own there. It just really made me recognise my own loneliness and insignificance. I never really understood the causes for all of these issues and it has taken a toll on me as a person. But reading some of these comments just makes me cry, because I can recognise that it really isn't just me who struggles with these thoughts.

I can totally relate to your story In my class I'm the youngest its soo hard to make friends and I'm suffering mentally to the point where yesterday I was banging my head to the wall and I'm about to lose my only friend and sometimes I start thinking about taking away my life ( in other words ending it ) once I puted a sharp knife near my neck but I keep remembering my father he is the only person that makes me feel happy. This reminds me of my dad when he comes back from work late and my family already went to bed and I just hear him munching on the bread. He's always so happy when I come downstairs and pretend like I'm getting water and sit down next to him. He doesn't show it but I always see him smile when I sit down. This video is more than just a mouse eating regenerating M&M's, it literally expresses how every one of us goes through at some point in life: loneliness and depression. This hits a lot for me since this is and was me before and nowadays. Sometimes I feel like I'm losing hope for everything I have and know of as I age longer in life as it becomes more difficult as what humanity has brought itself towards, I'm becoming more lonely and depressed seeing I'm not trying hard enough in the things I need to do and what I like doing. Whenever I'm really blue I would just go somewhere all by myself and usually cry in sorrow, either listen to music that would fit the mood or just talk it out with my friends. I'd even grab a snack sometimes to take my attention and some of my sadness away and enjoy what I have in my hands now, enjoying the moment. Reading the comment section and reading people's emotions, reactions and expressions made it wholesome knowing that I'm not the only one who understands what this video is representing. Everyone here has a different experience of what they have gone through yet have the same emotions when watching a forty second long video, which is astonishing to see. I'm not gonna make this comment too long because I know for some people that a lot of reading might be wasting there time so I just got to a few clear points, and I'm not gonna be kind of cheesy on saying something like "Remember your family is always there for you" or "You're not alone" but instead leaving this message I hope all of you can understand: *There's always a balance of negativity and positivity, and in life you must go through both sides sometimes even if you don't want to. Life itself is unexpected, but understand you can always take a different turn on it and try to change it. it may seem simple, but this expresses a ton of emotions.

I feel like we need a recreation of this scene where he just continues eating more M&Ms , like as in he actually finishes the ones he eats and then gose to grab another one out of the container, whit a different color each time, maybe he eats em in slightly different poses or bites at slightly different angles to add a bit more soul into it, maybe a full version of this song if it exists or a remix to extend it would also be really cool, granted i dont really expect anybody to just suddenly gain the desire to make this idea happen because of some long ass, one year late comment, but im just saying that it would make a pretty good vibe for either a looping video, a livestreams brb or about to start screen or just a fun little idea overall.

It reminds me of how my late father would be sitting in the kitchen late at night - whenever I would be staying late writing music or studying I would find him eating something and he’d always offer me some fried eggs or something like that. This is me...way too relatable. I wake up, give my dog breakfast, shower and brush my teeth, go to work, go on break, go to work, get home, play games, take a nap or watch a movie eat snacks with Hachi...go to the store to buy groceries or something of interest, go home put some music, workout for an hour, eat with Hachi, brush my teeth, go to bed, no alarm I have a Hachi...and again...until the weekend I go hunting with Hachi or have Hachi memorize new sounds so she knows what to do...yeah that Dog is my only family and friend so far 😅

Honestly, I don't see the mouse as lonely, I see him as alone. Loneliness and being alone are two completely different feelings. Feeling lonely is longing for human contact, but never getting it. It's almost always an accurate emotion; if you feel lonely, you are lonely. Being alone can mean two things, either it means you're lonely, or you're at peace. I see the mouse as at peace. He enjoys his M&M without distractions and does not have a care in the world. We all strive to be like this mouse.

Adding to this, it’s 100% possible to feel lonely even when you’re with people/have lots of friends. And vice versa. It’s really interesting to me, especially seeing as I’ve experienced both sides of the coin…

This is oddly relaxing

What a wonderful experience the rodent has with his seemingly unbranded chocolate company that this rat is enjoyingly eating. The experience the rodent has can be seen by its continuous eating and will always come back for more. This video has taught me new emotions of amazed that I never thought would happen in this video. This will linger in my brain to help me with enjoyment. I would rate this a rather high rating due to this enjoyment this has brought me to. I feel this is the best video possible for me to see. The rat makes me feel happier with it’s rather calming ability with a simple action he is doing. I will continue with life and be contempt of happiness.

I love how the simplicity of a rat just eating candy and a nostalgic music in the background can create a masterpiece. When i watch the video i think of the fact that we should appriciate life more. The song makes me remember all the times i went home from a cold walk where i just took a shower and went to bed. So simple yet so comforting. While other spend nights without a roof over their head you simply dont notice it everyday you wake up.

Judging by the packaging, they are actually British Smarties, the candy that M&Ms were inspired by. It's also an Aardman animation, a British animation company.

Something is missing... Yes, I think this video (or animation) needs a soft mouse'ly swallowing sound! That would fit very well to the biting part and make a whole loop perfect.

This video, nay this experience, has changed my life perspective. The simplicity of the piece, and yet the complexity of the message is awe-inspiring. The video is a critique of modern-day living. The video starts with a gray mouse, eating what is described as "Chocolate". The chocolate has a red color, which can symbolize life, and the mouse eating the chocolate, as aging. With a mundane look on his face, and a few bites, we repeat the cycle, indicating a new day has come. Every day, we see him with the same color of chocolate, with a yellow chocolate and green chocolate being just out of reach. The yellow chocolate may symbolize happiness, and green symbolizing renewal. This may indicate that happiness is out of reach, and that the days that are passing, will never come back. Another way of interpreting the video, is that the mouse is eating the red chocolate as a metaphor for trying to achieve something. The red chocolate may indicate that the mouse is trying to find love, as both chocolate and red is connected to love. The repeating of which is the passing of days. In front of him is a pink chocolate, this may symbolize femininity, as he is always looking at it before taking a bite out of the red chocolate. This may therefore again symbolize him attempting to find love. Again, the yellow chocolate is out of reach, indicating that the mouse is not contempt, and that happiness is something that is out of reach.

I did this when mam forgot to wake me up on Christmas morning. I sat in my room and ate a packet of crispy m&ms whilst waiting for mum to come get me. I now sleep in the same room as my sister on Christmas eve so I don't get forgotten again

A tear formed in my eye as I realize this is not a mouse... It's me. It's me when I feel like I lost my place in the world. When I sit alone in my apartment over my dinner. Exhausted from work with a to do list that keeps growing day by day. I feel like every day slips through my hands without anything to show for... even tho I have a good job and friends and I could have done something today. Sometimes useful, something fun with my friends, my family but I didn't... Cause... Well... There is no reason. I just sit here... Alone. Over a bowl of pasta. I Stare at my phone. Ditch as much social media as you can - enough studies have been done at this point and SM is _not_ good for our mental health. Start there, then break down how you spend the day (by hours) - figure out where you can use time to enjoy friends, family, interests. Without the phone or social apps dominating your attention, you have infinitely more time to enjoy life
