    I think its time to make ur own custom signature plate and place it somewhere on the cars u build; "Built by XF Motorsports", and a new merc line; few print ideas "No Artificials, all Human Intelligence ", "Old schooled, New old cars", " a pic of a wrench or hammer w writing " powered by Stefan" , SL pic w writing " Nose trimmed" 😀

    I'd rather not have ABS if the conditions are bad enough that you need it it probably won't help and the rest of the time it just limits your max braking effort and gives brakes with no 'feel'!

    We have done a few shortened BMW drive shafts at our shop. We find it easier to chop the drive shaft where the three finger yoke will go. Then cut just the yoke off, chuck it in the lathe and turn a step in it, so it lightly presses inside the tube. This keeps the yoke perfectly square to the tube, and leaves and easy way to lap weld vs butt joint. Just gotta preheat the yoke for penetration.

    Pretty sure the trans mount body side had different positions for the mount where those rubber plugs were. The w123 was made like this, hard to think the w126 wasn't similar. You'll want to replace the guibos with metal+urethane bushings. If you can't find them dm me. You might also want to consider the kangaroo team cv joints.

    And the oil cooler you can use the factory one from a w126 300SDL though custom brackets are needed as the sec has euro bumpers and foglights. The factory splash guard fits perfectly and looks stealth. I did the oil cooler system on my 560sel euro spec.

    How do you work out if the engine mounts will be strong enough? With a twin turbo V12, they’d need to be pretty well engineered, yeah?

  • @chesspiece81
    @chesspiece81 Жыл бұрын

    The NA 6.3 or the 5.5 with the VRP upgrades is what I would put in a coupe of this vintage and style and the TT V12 in a sedan or newer model S class coupe. But this is still an incredible build, I'm excited to see it finished. With the prices these cars are fetching lately I bet companies will start giving these chassis the Singer/Alfaholics style treatment.

    What about vibrations? This engine supports looks like quite rigid and I suspect that will translate into a quite shaking and uncomfortable drive. What do you think about creating an shock absorber to connect engine to the chassis?

    So You did not glow the welded drive shaft part after welding to reduce tensions? I had had learned doing so is of importance. I also think on a drive shaft of a V12 should be taken any precaution.

    It is such a great fit I bet you are feeling very lucky with this build. the engine mount bracket you made is completely boxed in except for a hole on the bottom how did you bolt it to the engine mount on the body?

  • @12pagani

    @12pagani

    The bolts go from underneath the car. They go through the crossmember, through the rubber mounts, and thread into the holes on the ends of the engine mount brackets

    The transmission fits so good as it's a 722.6 auto and the transmission in the w126 is the 722.3. Its easy sans electrical to swap a 722.6 into a w126 and it bolts up. But impressive that the v12 didn't push it to far forwards or back!!!

    That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen!!! Great job man that C126 560=600 SEC AMG soooooo dope!!!! Is that a 6.0 V12? I've always wanted to put a M120 or more modern V12 in a W126 500 SEL/560 SEL 4 door version. Gonna be really awesome man!!! Those W126 sedans and C126 coupes are my absolute most favorite cars ever made. Definitely dont make em' like they used to.

    Was the prop [drive] shaft straight at the weld? Would have been a good idea to slide a tight fitting tube inside one end, weld it up and then slide the other end over and weld up. That would give the joint some strength.

  • @axelwulff2303
    @axelwulff23033 жыл бұрын

    Should you find you need a little more cooling, Ron Davis Racing makes an upgraded radiator for the W126 chassis. It's a little bit thicker than the standard Behr radiator so you may have to go with low-profile fans. Strange to see a non-ABS version of the 500 SEC. Good luck with your awesome build.

    But is that force on the drive shaft, diff and tires while the car is rolling, or from a complete stop? It would seem that there would be a huge spike in the power curve from the torque applied at a stand-still launch vs from a rolling start.
