    I just bought my first mountain bike and I can't go up a small hill without my legs burning like they're in fire and my lungs feeling like they're full of ice. The uphill sections on this run and the way these guys power through them is immense.

    they get the practice and get a map of it ahead of time.a lot of studying goes into actually knowing your route when you're going so you don't get lost or surprised.

    @@CRZ_PL Nope, the finish was full of people, he was so fast that many people weren't there yet. I did it in 45 minutes, he did it in 30 minutes. He's pretty amazing, i felt down twice and lost a lot of time at the start, when many people (me too) got implied in a huge accident, i spent almost 5 minutes searching for my bike(it was impossible since there were hundreds of riders coming fast)

    Yea that's how mountains work. All that snowmelt drains down slope. Ever been in the foothills of a mountain like this? Its "usually" incredibly lush and green.

    Moi j'écris en français parce je suis Français et que la course est en France. Un grand RESPECT mec, une descente très clean, comment peut-on à cette vitesse éviter tous les dangers, les obstacles, les pierrailles coupantes, faire des trajectoires ? Quand on voit les vidéos des gars derrière à 20 minutes qui galèrent, qui se vautrent plusieurs fois, les dizaines de vélos cassés, les gars à l'agonie, on se rend compte de ton exploit qui paraît facile à regarder tellement c'est propre. Je n'ai jamais été autant impressionné en regardant ça.

    there’s a point where your system can flush lactate faster that you can produce it, so you don’t feel the lactate burn (actually it’s nitrogen you’re feeling which is the byproduct) you do still feel pain in your chest from the cardio tho, and mental dulling / physical weakness from your glycogen being depleted

    Crazy thing is they're briefed on the route but have to pay attention to the markers. They dont know the course very well. Holding first is probably an extremely hard thing to do. Not just counting being in first but having to make sure to know where to go without messing up.

    Epic!!!!!! There are literally 10s of thousands of places that you could have a massive wreck that would not be advantageous to your health!! You have obviously been down this trail countless times cause you know it like the back of your hand.....well done my friend.... early in the race when that guy flipped going over that snow, I gotta assume that was better to land on that the rocky trail, either way that was epic....had to re-watch multiple times

    I'm pretty sure the purple markers are the course and making those is all that matters. There are officials next to many/most of them to help verify your route and in addition to many of the officials having cameras many if not all of the riders have cameras, which may or may not be used as well to verify a legal route.

    @@animalcookie I'm pretty sure I saw some functionaries at the outer ends of some of those cuts, that's why I was wondering. As they are allowing helmet cameras, I don't think they are running UCI DH regulations, so my experience as a former road commissaire is moot.
