Guitarist Leslie West died yesterday, from complications from diabetes. Founder of the Rock Band "Mountain" (Mississippi Queen) in 1969, West was a friend of Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townsend, guitarist for "The Who" and many other rock guitarists. West was age 75. We are losing the greats, of Classic Rock and Roll from both age, and illness. We will always have their music. God Bless

If you want a great old song, check this out. "Song Title: "Time Has Come Today." Band Name : "The Chambers Brothers." An all Black Group that played Psychedelic Rock in the late 1960s. You've probably heard it on commercials, TV shows or movie scenes. You want cowbell? You ain't seen nothin yet. There is a long and short version of the song. Play the Album or record version, not any live version. You want the original on the record album. A song everyone has heard, but never thinks to mention. Thank you Friend.

Got out, went straight to Tyler, TX for college (late 1970), heard Mountain was opening for Black Sabbath in Dallas & hustled over to catch it. Left right after Mountain’s act - they were phenomenal! Loved your reaction, man! It’s pretty much the same as mine every time I hear this song! J

I first heard this album in 1969 when I was in high school. Yea, the second it comes on, you're caught up in it. The Bassist, Felix Pappalardi also produced and played on the albums of the group Cream. I saw Mountain perform at the Fillmore East in NYC in 1970 for their "Nantucket sleighride" tour. At that time, they were the loudest band I had ever heard live and the Fillmore wasn't that big a concert hall. They rocked it. Glad to see you enjoy them. This was my era of rock.

It brings a smile on my face when I see someone stank face some rock and roll. This is such a great song. Leslie West (the lead singer) said they made it short on purpose because they wanted the radio stations to prefer it, shorter songs = more time for advertisements. sidenote: That 45 had Mississippi Queen on both sides.

Music sound really started changing end of 60s with super group Cream, then 1970 Mountain turned loose with Mississippi Queen & blew the radios up! Thus the Hard Rock sound emerged with groups like Free, Deep Purple, etc. Still my fav, great music & great memories!
