Mount Yotei | Skiing a Volcano in Japan

Wait a second, where has my browser taken me? This is not mountain biking....
After producing more than 200 episodes about mountain biking, I thought I would mix things ap a bit with a little bit of hot ski action from Japow land.

I have been threatening this for a couple of years now and finally had a worthy trip to document. If you hate snow, just keep scrolling.... Sweet cycling endeavors will resume next week. For now, grab a glass of Sake and a fist-full of Uni and enjoy the episode.
This was my first time to Hokkaido and 9 days of skiing was just a teaser. I will return. #followcanfriday Winter Edition with Joey Schusler, Thomas Woodson, and Blake Gordon. A proper squad for bagging volcanoes, conveyor belt sushi, and as much japow as we could consume.

This is a historically shit winter in parts of Japan. We had no trouble finding soft, deep snow to ski every day though. Best of times. I miss James.

I suck at most things actually. Skiing has been a huge part of my life for 25 years, you just wouldn't know it by my current profession, hah.

Went to Hakuba 2 years ago. Japan is so amazing. Have to check out Hokkaido after seeing this.

The new drone was perfect for this! This looks so fun
at one point it was like a half pipe down mountain, just up and down, lip to lip. the volcano was awesome, no where to go in avalanche though. awesome shots!!

Bamm son! All Colorado peeps have a 6th sense called pow'sters! Jealous mate! Hit it yeww! All new level of stoke! Going to have to settle here in SoCal for maybe a tri fecta- of hittin' the surf in the morning, then a local DH shred on my local trail, and just maybe some night boarding at my local resort. So far here in SoCal it has been a great winter for surf and snow!
Amazing. I dont know what snow Is but someday I will travel to a place not so tropical as my country, Guatemala. Thanks for the upload

Just came back from Hokkaido myself !! Asahidake was my favourite near Furano, Rusutsu is also quite good too. Too bad it was a record low snowfall year tho, but with a few bluebird days for backcountry tour like this its perfect

Loved it! I haven't been skiing in several years and am not very good at it, but certainly enjoyed it. The powder over there is unreal, what a blast. Watch what you eat, you just never know what you're going to get! 😄

I was amazed how many skiiers were in the bottom of that crater. The closest I've ever gotten to backcountry skiing is showshoeing out to the base of Dragon's Tail, and watching the conga line skinning up.

I stopped buying passes in Colorado 2 years ago. Not into the resort scene around here anymore after holding a pass for 20 years. I hide in the woods now, lol Wish I had time to make more skiing content. MTB keeps me pretty busy.
Looks like an awesome trip! Now that I live up north I may have to take up skiing or snowboarding. But why do I always take up expensive hobbies?!
