True. Although, it's a shame that he knew it, otherwise he may have stayed with Mott The Hoople, and given us more hits to enjoy all along.

Ian Hunter is a true rock icon, I had the privilege of seeing him about 8 or 9 years ago, he closed with "Dudes" and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, absolutely wonderful!

Ian Hunter. Morgan Fisher. And the amazing Ariel Bender How can you not love this. Simply wonderful

I have to disagree about Luther ( Arial bender) . He was never a great guitar player His style is just extreme overkill on a few notes It was great in studio recordings as it was an integral part of Mott's classic sound . However, live in these latter day videos, .he is just very annoying ... visually and sonically

78 years on this concert. Respect!!

The Great Mott the Hoople ,theyre still doing it !!! After all these years (with a little help from the Ranters) History should show that Ian Hunter is Britains top songwriter and performer ,but sadly it wont .People and bands in the know will laud Hunter but the press nah !!! H of F no chance !! but does he care ?? nah

jimbo martin you are so right. He toured the US las year and I caught him at the Fillmore in Francisco and I could not believe the show he put on. Guys half his age would struggle to keep up. A legend, who hardly cares if he gets credit now. He knows, and both you and I know.

I agree with you about the Hall of Fame. Todd Rundgren will not be there anytime soon. But, I think that they both are great and so talented. I am pretty sure that Todd probably enjoys the noteriety of not being inducted.

I was at the riotous Bradford gig when the police were called ("when you get a little buzz, send for the fuzz") and which caused Ian to write "The golden age of rock and roll". I might have accidentally inspired the "screaming for the face at the window" line when I pointed out to my friends that Ian was watching the crowds from a high window in St. Georges Hall, and within seconds everyone was looking up and yelling. Best live band EVER ! 😀

i can't help it... I love that song...makes you think there must be SOME truth in it...Ian, Morgan, and Luther are still pullin it off... Would love to see Mott the Hoople play in New York. My friend Ralph saw Mott the Hoople play on Broadway in NYC and the opening act was Queen.

I saw them on that tour too, but a week or two after they played NYC. They had a giant puppet head on either side of the stage which lit up (maybe during “Marionette”). Imagine Queen as an opening act though!

Absolutely brilliant. I remember the Guys and this Song when they were in their Top of the Pops days. Brings back memories.

I remember the 'Circus' tour......... Early 70s? Love them then and love 'em now.

I saw this in 74. Going 4/9 in Boston. Thanks you God.

Ian Hunter at 80 (?) is best lookin' man I know, and his voice, well I love accents, and his is a thrill, and such verve! I especially like "All the young Dudes" with Dave Gilmour (didn't he and David Bowie perform together some? He gets so "one with the audience"! Just love it!

There is something about the name of a band that sells , Mott will always sell more than the name Ian hunter or even Ian Anderson can never sell as many tickets as the name jethro Tull although most know both Ian's write most of the songs , even Jeff Lynne had to stick elo on the posters and he does everything .

80 when this was filmed. He will turn 84 June 3, 2023.

i saw Mott The Hoople 5 times in the 70ties.....never by design. they were always on the ticket with bands i would pay to see like Queen...Aerosmith...Blue Oyster Cult...Kansas and so forth....i admit 1 of the 5 shows was good. it was good as Mick Ralphs laid down some fine guitar lines and solos....he left the band for Bad Company and MOTT was fancy costumes and nice big boots with very vanilla like shows from that point on....average at best. Aerosmith blew em off the stage and i felt bad at how a crazed crowd gave MOTT a "polite" applause as the headliner....Aerosmith should have headlined but the promoters messed that up bad. this version of MOTT should be worth $10 per ticket....anything more and you're getting ripped off!!!

Why is Mr Pastry dressed like Kermit?

Bender remains one of the worst guitar players I've ever heard. His solo during Golden Age is simply excruciating. And he looks like a clown.

Yep! Saw them with Ariel just after the great Mick Ralphs left for Bad Co. and man was I disappointed! He really sucked.
