Thanks for this Kat. I never realised my powder extinguisher might not work when I needed it. If I don’t win, I’ll certainly be getting one of these. Keep up the great videos

Congratulations Paul! You were picked at random as the winner of the Fire Safety Stick! Please email me on kat (at) wandering-bird.com with your shipping details. Thanks everyone for playing. More giveaways coming soon!
This is an outstanding video Kat, it should be compulsory viewing for every Motorhome and Caravan user. Not just because of the fire safety advice, but also as an introduction to this alternative fire safety product. You asked all the right questions and delivered it in your usual confident and balanced style. 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for this video. I'm nearly 80yrs old and had no idea that the 7 year old fire extinguisher in my motorhome needed any attention or might not work!! I shall put some money aside each month to eventually get a fire stick, they are expensive but compared to motorhome damage and lives well worth it. When I have it I will feel safe again. Thank you again.
What I learned and was impressed most about: I didn't know the powder ones eat the wiring over time!! aaahh, yet the Firestick doesn't doesn't leave a mess and that's impressive. Definitely would like one of these and never need to use it!
We bought 3 fire safety sticks when the powder extinguisher expired - 1 for the MH, 1 for garage and 1 for kitchen. It is surprising how little known these devices are even by the fire safety training companies.
Just purchased a 50+100 fire safety stick & saved around £50 by buying using the link & KAT discount. Will feel a lot safer in my motor home & my home. I’d urge everyone to get one. My hubby is a Health & safety officer & he’s going to carry one..x
I have been in the unfortunate position of needing to use powder extinguishers 4 time. 3 of those times they simply didn't work. The fourth time I bashed the extinguisher about a bit and got some of the contents to work. I hate them and don't trust them. And when they do work they are very, very, messy. Someone let one go in a bar I used to work in and we had close for a day just to clean up the mess. Firesaftystick is a brilliant solution in every way. Here in South Africa, they have been available for a long time and are very popular with the 4x4/safari community. CO2 and other 'gas' extinguishers work well and I have used them in my garage but they are harder for ordinary folk to get serviced and refilled.
I have fire safety training every year and nobody ever mentions the ridiculously short time a conventional extinguisher will run for! I'm amazed. Brilliant bit of kit, well explained and demonstrated. Thanks Kat! :)
Size & weight alone make them more suitable for campers & motorhomes. Didn't know the powder ones compacted either. Useful vid thanks. 👍

Thanks Kat once again for some really valuable, life saving information. I’ve had my motorhome for 3 years & it came with a fire extinguisher & blanket, which I thought at the time I’m sorted if I have a van fire. I’ve now realised with horror watching this video, that the chances are they are useless. What a brilliant, amazing, life saving easy to use item the fire safety stick is, everyone MUST have one, I’m certainly going to get at least one, they are a tad expensive to buy but when you think it could save your life & your van it’s well worth it. I think you should keep the fire stick yourself, you definitely need one as you spend so much more time in it than the rest of us. Thanks again for the very important information.
I regularly do fire safety training for my job and I've never been told how short the discharge time is for conventional extinguishers, which could be a major problem as I work with people with disabilities. These sticks are such a good idea.
Saw this and from a weight, use, maintenance perspective and it had all the advantages. Cherry on top was the 10% off - so bought two with free delivery. (House and to be Van) Cheers Kat. ❤
After watching the vid on Friday, I ordered one on Friday morning and it arrived this morning, Monday!! Excellent product and service. Cannot believe how light the stick is.
Wow! This video was a real wake-up call for me to get a fire safety stick to replace my old fire extinguisher which almost certainly would be of no use when I need it most. Thank you!👍
33.53 minutes well spent being educated on a very serious subject. Product appears to be worth its weight in gold 👍 . Thanks Kat for the review.
What a great bit of kit really impressed with the fact that you can get into all kinds of places and the longer time it gives you unlike the conventional extinguishers, have done fire fighting courses in the past and found this a real eye opener. Thanks Kat
What a brilliant piece of equipment the Firesafety stick looks. My campervan manual recommends a powder extinguisher but the idea of a clumpy lumpy useless powder extinguisher is terrifying. Maybe It’d be as much use to throw my current extinguisher at a fire than to try to discharge it. Time to change it, I think!
I have done endless fire training working for the NHS over the years but I never realised how short the discharge time is and would not have given a thought to the impact of trundling a fire extinguisher around in a van. Really informative, thank you
Great informative video. I really like that the fire safety stick is so small and will be easy to store. I was shocked that the standard fire extinguishers are affected by being in a moving vehicle and possibly would not work as expected in an emergency. Thanks Kat.
Wow! I didn't realise that a fire extinguisher works for such a short blast. I can imagine panicking and using it up before I even get to the flames! The fire stick would give me much more confidence. Plus, they are so compact and light we could easily put one at each end of the van.
Thanks for making this! I often worry about servicing on the traditional bottles (cost plus it's a pain) and, on top, whether or not they would even be good enough in a typical panic situation. Really informative and helpful. x 🌻

Glad it was helpful! ☺️
WOW, that video was well worth watching. It’s brilliant to see how to discharge and use a fire stick too. I had no idea that the discharge time on a conventional small extinguisher was only 7 seconds, not long to think, and point in the right direction in what will be a fraught stressful situation if you’re fighting a fire. I would absolutely love to win one.
This is a fantastic product that is ideal for Motorhomes, Caravans but probably also work vans and HGV’s. I really like to support UK businesses like this.
Great product as I am about to build my own camper and will help with the weight. Thanks for showing it to us.
Kat, thanks for answering my question on your FB page and sharing this very informative link. I’ve been fire warden trained a number of times over the years in my working career, most recently 2 years ago, but we never stop learning. Looks like a great product (that I hope I’ll never have to use!) Thank you. Paul.
Brilliant, What a great product, I shall defiantly be looking into this for my Motorhome.
very informative and something we all should watch,,,ty for sharing
Really helpful! Thanks so much Kat :) The main things for me were:The need for regular services, how short the discharge is and how that is shortened by movement and temperature. Excellent content as usual. Keep up the good work Thank you :)
Really helpful Kat, thanks. Did not know that ordinary ones could clump, nor that they needed servicing. Thanks to @Fire Safety Stick for the info and the discount. Now I feel I understand al lot more about fire and how to deal with it (and when to run away!)
Hi Kat, What a great product. When I part ex my previous motorhome the fire extinguisher was about 6 years old. So I decided to use it, to try it. I removed the pin, pressed the leaver and nothing happened., totally useless. Now I know why. I will definitely be getting one of these.
Very informative- the long term damage to wiring caused by traditional powder extinguishing was a shock, and the limited duration of powder versions 😳
Found it thanks Kat 👍
What a useful video. Thank you. The bit I think has impacted me most is the fact the conventional fire extinguishers need regular servicing when used in vehicles, Motorhomes, caravans etc otherwise the powder clumps.
Such a helpful, friendly video. Thanks Kat. Like many, I never realised what a short discharge time powder extinguishers have.
Hi, I do have fire fighting training and do have a dry powder fire extinguisher in my motorhome, but this fire stick is a game chamger. Great safety video.
Brilliant idea ! , great presentation of a really simple and effective safety device , thanks
Great informative video, so many points covered that I did not know; servicing, types of fire, electricals.... that the conventual fire extinguisher has either problems with or can not cope with. In addition to all the plus points mentioned the best part of the Fire Stick is that it's small and lightweight; a very important consideration when your short of space, particularly for things that you do not use (or want to use) in a motorhome. A Fire Stick is a must have!
Thank you for another good vid kat and educating us along the way, myself for one never knew how short a time a fire extinguisher lasts I was shocked !!!! Lovely seeing you as always ❤ x
I’ve just completed fire Marshall training for work and was contemplating what on earth was the best option for the van. Problem now solved - thanks Kat!
You do a great job in keeping us all informed. Thanks and I’ll be getting a fire safety stick soon.
Brilliant video, as someone about to buy a van and invest in fire safety I thank you for this video. Top job

ok kat. thanks for the reply , I will go see them at the show next Sunday.
Just about to purchase a new fire extinguisher. Thanks, this video has been very useful in helping me choose.
Thanks for the video, very informative. I knew of the fire types and which extinguisher to use when, but did not know about the short discharge time. I definitely need a FSS in my life and probably a 2nd one for the house!
Like you, I did a couple of courses on the use of fire extinguishers etc as I was 'fire officer/monitor' where I used to work. I never realised how short a time the powder extinguishers lasted or how important servicing was. I need fire safety sticks! Thanks for a great video Kat. Best wishes, David
Thanks Kat!
Thanks Kat, I am getting more information from you than any one or any where else, We hope to be in a position to have our campervan in the next twelve months. Its been a dream of mine for about ten years.
Very informative video thank you! Just got my first camper van and slowly buying everything to kit it out. Never heard of the safety stick but seems far superior to the old style extinguisher. It’s now on my list of must haves!
Important thing for me is to catch the fire early. Was always taught that when using fire extinguishers if the fire cannot be extinguished using one extinguisher the evacuate the area, there’s a risk that you think you can put the fire out with another then another and it’s out of control, therefore I’m concerned that a 100 or 50 second attempt at putting out a fire in an enclosed space such as a motorhome puts the operator at risk.
What an interesting video, useful information not only for campervanning but for home and work. Thank you 👍
Thanks for this video Kat, it was really an eye opener. I have had fire training in the past and still learnt a few things. Definitely worth looking into buying one of the fire sticks. 😊
I was especially impressed by the way this Fire Safety Stick worked without leaving residue and how it was used through the Fridge Vent. I didn’t realise I would only get about seven seconds from a traditional extinguisher and the need for annual servicing.
Brilliant, must have
Hi Kat thanks for a very useful video I was thinking of getting a second extinguisher and this seems to fit the bill 👍👍
Brilliant review. 👍🏻
Great vid Kat, what a great must have safety product for house or motorhome, didn't realise how short a time a standard extinguisher lasted, the firestick appears to be an amazing alternative. Thanks and Take care. Bazza
Exceptionally informative video, thank you very much.
Length of discharge of the two different products was amazing, plus the weight difference. Great video 👍💙❤️
I enjoyed your video, thank you. I am impressed with the product. I already have two units of a previous generation extinguisher (not powder), One in the van & the other in the van's garage.
I never thought that the powder wouldn’t work when you need it, I didn’t know it could clump up with movement and different temperatures. Thanks Kat, I’ve just ordered two now. 👍❤️
I have seen these before and very impressed with the fool proof operation of them. I used to teach in house mandatory fire safety updates and the staff would very often get confused about which device to use on what type of fire. this is like I said fool proof and takes the stress away from people of getting it wrong with in the work environment. care home would benefit from the 100%
Brilliant video thank you… I was shocked that the red extinguisher only gives a few seconds! Certainly wouldn’t have been enough when the fire you were tackling reignited. Thanks again 😊
Can't believe how quick it worked on the fire. Will definitely be buying one.
Great gadget to have and should not take up any space compared to my current extinguisher. Loved your review , loud and very clear, keep up the good work
Great video . . . we will getting one ASAP
Really informative… thanks 😁
Thank you - great when products will last a much longer time than the regular ones and it’s something you need to ensure works if you ever need it. 🔥 fingers crossed it isn’t ever needed though 🤞 All the best, David & Rachel 👍
Very informative, thank you. I was unaware that there was an alternative to the "powder" extinguisher. Also, how ineffective they can easily become over time and that it is not a universal extinguisher. A must have for my and everyone's motorhome.
Think this is perfect for our van! Not only is it light but it also lasts/keeps for a long time. Also looks easy to use - always concerned about whether I will be able to pull out the pin quick enough from a regular fire extinguisher!
Great review, going to get one or two of these for our new van. Have experience of being responsible for fire extinguishers in a marine environment and dry powder extinguishes compacting and aware of the risk of it not working properly, unless inspected and serviced regularly.
Looks like an excellent product! I've got a tiny powder extinguisher in my caravan so guess that's only a handful of seconds! Its also out of date so I need to replace - this looks like an excellent replacement!
Thanks Kat this is very informative. No idea that our existing one would be virtually useless 😮 in the event of a motorhome fire.
Great video as usual, very informative. Just proves it's not always about the size of your equipment, its how long it lasts and how you use it..... 😊
Thanks, Kat, for this review . Something that should also be mentioned about stick. is like a flare used in a boat . The caps on each end our different, so you can easily use it to put out a fire if it's dark and in a panic. Ideal for caravan, motorhome, and pleasure boats .
Brilliant information. I didn’t know that extinguishers needed to be serviced or how long they last. Mine is now well out of’ uselessness’. These look great and going to order 2 for our American school bus. One for the back and one inside. No good having just one of you can’t access it!! Great review. Thanks.
I hadn't a clue about the correct use of a 'normal' for extinguisher, and I also didn't know the mechanics of putting a fire out. Thanks so much for a great video and bringing this to my attention!

Glad I could help!
Looks great. Weight coupled with effectiveness and range of fires it covers make it a very strong contender to replace the traditional extinguisher, when space & weight are a premium in a van.
Will be going to see these guys at the NEC to get one for our van. Hopefully we will bump into you as well.
I've subscribed. Shocked the powder ones only last 6 or 7 seconds
Was great to see the difference between the fire extinguisher and the fire safety stick. Good review. 👍
Lithium phosphate batteries don't explode. There are, however, ten if not more different lithium based battery technologies and some are more dangerous. Lithium polymer might explode or produce fire, for instance.
Powder fire extinguishers should be turned upside down 3 times every month at least. This stops the powder settling and hardening and keeps extinguisher operational. This info is from Chubb Fire and protection.
Great vlog Kat. Just yesterday my husband accidentally set a fire off in the van when he took some bread out of a paper bag and dropped it near the lit gas stove. I was outside when a very sharp bread knife came flying out with a burning paper bag on it. There’s now a slice cut in our mat, where the knife landed ! He also cut his finger on the knife when he grabbed it. What a drama and it makes you think about what you might do next time. The fire safety stick looks great. Thanks for your vlogs.
Thank you for sharing this Kat, I have ordered one ,thanks again for your discount code, as makes more sense than ever. like you say I never plan on using it ever!, however my dad was a fireman so I always heard it was only in a few seconds that you have, and so its always better to have a solution when every second counts. I was not aware they only lasted 7 seconds, so feel the fire stick is simple, easy and a no brainer really.

Glad it was useful. Here’s to never using them!
Great video I am new to van life and have only had my motorhome one week and in the process of moving in full time I had no idea the small fire extinguishers only last a few seconds and would probably run out in the time sense takes over from panic mode Fire sticks look much easier to use, control and store particularly in a moving vehicle Keen to enter competition but would also be interested in usual cost which wasn't covered in video Many thanks Sarah Mackins
Great video Kat, I have been on many fire awareness courses over the years and never been informed of the important information regarding use in motorhomes. Looks a great product, ordered, thanks and like yourself hope its the best thing I never use.

Great video, the effectiveness of the fire stick was impressive however the fact that surprised me the most is that my small fire extinguisher will only last 7 seconds, if you are lucky!
Great product, shocked with the issues of lithium.
Looks a good product
Wow! Great video Kat. I had no idea traditional extinguishers had so little “run time”. That really shocked me! Terrifyingly so. Great product test/review.
Very interesting and informative. Didn't realise the effect of vibration and temperature changes on powder fire extinguishers. Shocked to hear how short a time they might be effective for when in use.
Great education and demo and has really made me think we should be investing in one of these
WOW! I had no idea that the traditional extinguishers had such a short spray time, nor that they were so problematic! I am picking up my first ever motorhome in two weeks time and had been ready to buy a traditional extinguisher and blanket. Your video has changed my mind. I will still get the fire blanket anyway, but now this Fire Safety Stick will have priority over other essentials (unless i win the freebie of course) :-)
Cracking video, Kat - thank you. I'm shocked at how quickly the flames shot back when you were demonstraing the firestick. I'll have to get myself one of these for the van....or win this competition, hint hint :) Thanks again.
Great piece of kit. Very well presented, and really opened my eyes to something I hadn't given enough thought to. It's a no brained, who can afford to not have one.
Excellent video! A quick google shows these are the recommended ones for use in rally cars as well now which speaks volumes as to their quality and effectiveness vs std extinguishers. I also would struggle to be bothered having a traditional one serviced every year, as well as the increased challenges they face in motorhomes due to vibration and temp variances. Well done!!
A really useful video. Thank you. Who knew extinguishers only lasted such a short time 😳
Firestick giveaway, fantastic idea. Didn't realise how short running time a powder extinguisher has. Deffo need these at home as well as our vehicles.
Great video. Ideal for a motor home, light with no service requirements, and 15-year life. Would definitely have a few given the light weight. Provably the larger ones, and if the worst happened, use one, and if still an issue, use the second and leave in the van and close the doors.
Hi Kat. Met you at both Malvern (gave you a pen for signing books) and at Shepton Mallet. Like you, ex-RN and was interested in how the fire stick worked having done some fire fighting training. This video was great and gave me a good overview and will be buying one for both my van and car, just need to check out the fittings that will best suit my vehicles. Alison
