Motorcycle chain noise and how to fix it, Ninja 300

Hi guys! So I had issues with my new bike chain which I replaced, but now I found the problem and it works just fine!
Reading many comments and multiple threads and also did everything as it suppose to be, but still had the problem.. Finally it's all done! It took a some time to break in the chain, but now it's smooth and quiet.
Keep those chains well lubricated and not to tight, they will last you for many many miles!
Thank you for watching!

Most of noise seems to be from the top part of the chain just behind the front sprocket knocking against the chain guide on top of the swingarm, which is completely normal. Under load most of that contact would go away. You can test this by going down a steep hill with the bike in neutral and the engine off.

I recommend to check the slack when rear wheel is on the ground Frequent you will see that some of the slack is gone and your chain is to tight

Yup. Chain needs a little slack. If he continues to run that he is a. Prematurely stretching the chain, and B. running a high risk of catastrophic failure.

Is this amount of noise fine? My Yamaha FZ6N makes this sound now as well after tension the chain. And I mean then the sound at the end of the video. Before I never noticed any sound at al. The chain has been driven 80km with a to tight chain after loosening it again..

  • @biesasuk

Yes that means it's to tight, maybe you have to loosen your chain a little. I lubricate my chain every 500km~ and check tension at the same time. If you overtightened it for sure it will make lauder noise because it's way to tight. Hope this helps

Sprocket was fine, bearings fine, all lubricated, lined up, rear wheel bearings fine.. could not figure out, but I put extra lube and loosened the chain to almost touching the body of the bike and it fixed perfectly. Was smooth and quiet after few miles riding, got fully lubricated and it worked great!

A rattling noise whilst moving the bike when you are next to it is usually a sign of a chain adjusted to tight. Measure it while it is on its wheels. Having a slapping sound when driving at low speeds around 50kmh: too much slack. Pretty much the golden rules for chain adjustment.

30-45mm more or less depending on the bike. If it’s within that spec in the owners manual it’s fine. You’d probably say my chain is waaaaaay too tight but it’s just in spec.
