Only use WD-40 to clean, like you said it evaporates and therefore we need chain lube that will stay on(don’t forget to let it set before driving or chain lube will fling off too)

Do not use WD40 to clean your chain, it penetrates the seal rings and compromises the internal manufacturers grease, there is a whole video on youtube a out it. I only use iPone Chain Cleaner as it produces the best effects, and to lube your chain use thick gear oil only. Do not waste your money on brand chain lubes that do not work!

Never use WD-40 to clean or lube the chain. To clean use kerosene or a product specifically for O-ring chains. Use motorcycle chain lube to lube.

Don't do this with engine start else someday you would damage either sproket or your body parts.

Do not under any circumstances use wd40 as a chain lube, because it acts as degreaser, it won't evaporate, and won't allow chain lube to sit on chain, ultimately damaging the chain

In my experience WD40 works well for the cleaning process. I've 21,000KM on my chain and there are no signs of damage.

@@krishnachaithanyareddy8575 There is no science to back it up! The biggest enemy of O ring chains is rust. The lube is safely enclosed in the ring area. Chain cleaners and lube only help the chain stay away from rust and clean any dirt that might be on it.

Here is the scientific evidence - WD40 IS a degreaser, meaning it removes any grease or lube on the surface it is applied to, and the main aim of lube is to reduce friction between moving metal objects, WD40 is not a lube, so it doesn't help in reducing friction and further it doesn't let any lube on the surface making it vulnerable.

I have been using it for the last 3 years on my RS and there has been no negative impact. It's the best way to clean the chain.

Brake cleaner might also be good for cleaning followed by chain lube or chain wax.

Many people use WD40 to lube household items and event the pegs of the motorcycle. However it's not good enough for a motorcycle chain. The constant movement will fling the WD40 off very quickly. The same is mentioned in the video.

Dude! Never use WD-40!! That will dry and destroy your o-rings inside the chain!! You can use oil but the best would be the chain wax or lube from Motul. This is an example of what NOT to do 🤦‍♂️

WD 40 is a great way to clean the chain. I have een using WD40 for about 4 years on both my motorcycles (with O rings), and there has been no side effect of fatigue on them. Chain wax and lube from Motul are lubes, they are not going to help in cleaning and removing dirt.
