Very overlooked part of maintenance. Will make your bike not only sound better but likely feel a little more throttle response and crispness from the vine

Hey I never thought of clear tape, great tip, but the only thing I would give you feed back on is please use gloves, your hands will itch for a day. Great video, I can tell you have good experience, and my best wishes to you for safe riding.

Awesome video, thanks. About to repack my True Dual V&H slash cuts. Did a 104 upgrade with SE 259 Cams, 10.5:1 Compression etc. and it was so freaking loud I hated it. So, I did a little research and found your video. Pulled my baffles out and discovered about 85% on one burnt out and 50% on the other burnt out so, I'm hoping a repack will help me safe my hearing. Thanks

How long did those pipes smell like burning plastic? Did you think of using thin wire found in a Hobbie or craft store? I'll be doing a video on baffle packing this week with before and after sound.

*very bad idea to use adhesive tape, it does not allow the sound to reach the outer layer to attenuate the sound, it only acts on the inner layer.*

this is for everybody shooting how to's ; 1. life is short. 2. don't air dead silence, or umm, uhhhhhhhh, ahhhh , hmmm . know what you want to say. 3. If your not ground-up restoring an entire bike, it shouldn't take more than 3 minutes to record.

Rush does a poor job of packing their mufflers. Completely sealing the wraps with tape creates a straight through pipe with little to no audible noise reduction. Vance and Hines and Cobra mufflers are better products. They don’t seal their wraps. Just because a “Rush representative said so” doesn’t make it right. Vance and Hines lays one ply of fibreglass cloth (the same stuff that one would use to do fibreglass repair work) around the baffle to prevent blow-out of the packing wrap. Then the baffles are wrapped twice and bound with three strips of masking tape. I’ve been maintaining mine and my friends’ aftermarket mufflers for over 4 decades. I would never seal a wrap in tape. It’s a complete waste of time and effort and has no positive effect.

Great.... glad you're on top of it.. I did a re-wrap of my V&H used 3" gaze to do final ... otherwise it would Not go back into the shell.... The Rush was done to the way instructed.... turned out fine for me..... To each his own....
