Motor Mount Replacement Tacoma

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the first actual repair to the series. In this video, I show you how to replace the motor mount on the Toyota Tacoma. This job is not fun at all. It's tight, it's cumbersome and it's very frustrating. This maintenance repair work will require a lot of patience and a lot of gumption. I show you as best as I can all of the techniques to do this replacement at home. Best of luck to you if you're going to tackle this!

    Did all my Idler Pulleys and Belt Tensioner (OEM), I removed the Fan Shroud and Fan which made everything very easy to access and complete, did some work from the bottom as well....

    Nice video but I was wondering wouldn't it be easier on the passenger side to unbolt the mount bracket from the engine block and then the 2 bolts holding the mount to the frame and removing the whole thing to avoid having to jack up the passenger side? Driver's side might not be so easy since the starter and ac compressor are in the way.

    I try to keep it OEM with replacements but that's not always possible. Did you go aftermarket because of price?

    Nice work! Do you not have the two mounting supports that bolt under the motor mount? They act like gussets to help stabilize the bottom of the mount.

    Mine didn't have the gussets unfortunately. I am planning on fabbing up my own after the repair series

    Biggest question is it worth it to do it on your own? I got quoted $320 in labor to have a mechanic replace them

    What year is your Tacoma? My 2006 the motor mounts/brackets actually pushed themselves into the piece of shit frames on the 06's specifically. DMZ fabrications (California) actually sells gusset kits for the motor mount areas that tend to fail on the crap frames these things have. Thankfully, I could save my frame areas (welded and gussets). Keep an eye on those areas where the mounts are joined to the frame.

    Mine is a 2009 and gusseting those motor mounts is definitely on the list of of reinforcement mods once I have the truck running

    Going to attempt this job.... It also includes a Transmission mount.... I have all OEM Mounts and Hardware, but I might have to get my Korean wife to use her tiny little hands in there to help with the tight places...LOL Do you have a Video on Installation of a Rear Anti-Sway Kit on the 2005 2G Taco??? Thanks KFlo!!!!

    What lifting point would you use on an auto transmission Tacoma?

  • @KFloTacoma

    @KFloTacoma

    Ideally, it will be at the bell housing as well but anywhere flat really where you can lift.
