Moto Guzzi V7 Stone first ride, review!

A cool ride indeed! A cruise and review of this 2023 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone. It was a gloomy day, but a sweet ride. This bike was loaned to me from Blackmans Cycle in Emmaus, Pa.👇

I had the immense luck of finding one, 2022 model, just sitting there at my local dealership in Rimouski, Québec. I'll be honest: I had no idea what to expect. Then I went for the test drive. Man, do I love that thing. I went for mininal mods: ditched the mirrors and got the OEM bar end ones instead. Then added a Bitoni flyscreen just to cover the gauge clauster I found too exposed to the elements. Finally, ditched the OEM exhaust that's way too silent for the old folks driving around in my neighborhood, not hearing me at all in their cars, replacing them with Agostini's. That's it, now it's perfect. I'll never, ever, ever sell that bike. It's so comfortable, I love the character of that V-Twin, I love how charming is the clunky gearbox. Can't say enough nice things about this bike. Oh!, and a driveshaft instead of a chain? Man, once you get lazy never taking care of the chain, you never want to go back. Now, you find yourself in the lucky position of being able to ride it. It's winter here in Québec, so this sweet baby's sitting at the heated storage in an undisclosed location, far from home. I'm a tad jealous. :)

that’s awesome, you found the one! I’m learning more and more about Moto Guzzi aficionados. You are a breed all unto your own. I’ve often heard “my dad always had one” or “my dad would look at a Harley and say the engines in wrong”. How far gone are you? Are you dreaming of boating on Lake Como, and strolling past the Red Gate? When you stand in a line, do you rock side to side? Thanks for sharing man! @@Broken-six Unfortunately, I think I am client 1/1 in my neighborhood. I struggle finding someone who owns anything else than a big-4 or a Harley. Some Beemers and KTMs here and there. Can you imagine this? Nobody wanted the 2022 model when I bought it last summer, so they shaved off 3000$CAN of sticker. They nearly gave me the thing.

yes, a salesman let it slip they were clearing out old models for no profit. they don’t do that with the other manufacturers. I’m talking in general terms. maybe it’s just a coincidence! As far as Italian bikes, I have owned a ducati 860, moto morini 500 camel, laverda 3cl 1000, cagiva 650, and currently have a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 and a 2013 Moto Guzzi Stone 750. Have owned several German bikes to include BMW and Zundaps. Grew up with British bikes--meaning Triumph and BSA. Have never been interested in Harley. Owned several Suzuki's to include 2-stroke models and the Wankel rotary 750. The Moto Guzzis have been my favorite above all the rest. Quirky, reliable, tractor-like in that the Japanese "refinement" is not there--but if you love just being connected to machinery and sound--Moto Guzzi!--mike battle

I wanted to buy my 22 V7 Special from Blackmans but they couldn't get a blue one so I had to go to Westchester. The bike sounds even better with a set of Agostini's! I also like the stock exhaust. However, it is a tad too quiet if you live in a - how to say it politely - in a neighborhood where the average age ain’t the same as in Ethiopia, if you know what I mean. First weeks I had the bike, I was cute in my lane by many aging drivers. Next red light, they rolled down their window saying “Sorry, didn’t hear or see you!” So I got the Agostinis short pipes: very, very cool sound. Not too loud if you keep the db killers. Mistral and Zard also make exhausts for the V7. But they don’t sound as good.

Last year I sold my 17’ GS1200 for needed cash and purchased a 15’ fj-09 in like new condition. The fj was great at the time but now the engine sound irritates me and the chain gets noisy too. I guess I miss the deep, quiet sound of a twin. The V7 has the sound I like and has shaft drive. I don’t ride like a hooligan much so the fj-09 seems like it’s not for me anymore.
