Oh, I'm so tempted. I'm 64, bought my first Moto Guzzi, a Cal-T3 in 1978 when I was stationed for a few months at Aviano Air Base, Italy. Rode it all the way back only stopping for fuel and toilet breaks through the Alps to Spangdahlem AB, Germany through rain and sleet with no rainsuit, taping garbage bags to my legs, I was sooo cold. 674 miles. Still remember that odo reading. The things we do when young!

I switched from a V7II Stone to the new V7 850 Centenario. I really love this bike. It is not the best bike in any particular spec, but the pack it's awesome. Shaft drive, ABS with Brembo brakes, traction control, full LED lights and turn signals, KYB shocks, a transversal engine that make people look at it trying to guess what's that about... and that 21 L gas tank.

Love your enthousiasm! I ride the V7850 special in grey and I am lioving it for all the reasons you mentioned . Got the bike last November after traiding in my green V7 cafe from 2009..........greetings from the Netherlands!

Been a Guzzi fan since '75, back in those days we called lane splitting 'threading the needle', I recently found a '00 v11 Lemans for sale.. minty. I think k I gotta have it.😉, It's really making me DrOoL!

They're great bikes. I've just finished running in my yellow V7 850 and must say I'm impressed, it actually seems to encourage aggressive riding which isn't something that the specs would suggest. I've also had a Breva 750 and V7 ii, the 850 is certainly stronger and I can feel an improvement in the handling also.

Awesome little bike and I agree with you. I just rode the V9 Bobber to Cape Town, 1400kn and they are fun in the twisties and reward a bit of positive aggression when throwing them into corners

Unusual to hear a reviewer being complimentary about the instrument housing. I love the look of it, but we seem to be in a minority.

@@route21garage will do..been really a Triumph rider, for many years, however, I do like the fact that Moto Guzzi, is a very niche bike...funny, like my Harley, however, as you know, everyone, including their sister, rides one..lol

@@michaelhegyan7464 I own and ride a Triumph Bonneville T214 and a Thruxton R, and I loove Triumph, build quality, design, motor, really special brand. However there is something about this 101year old brand with this transverse air cooled twin since 1967 , still hand built in the same original factory, so imperfect and quirky that grabs you……

Great review thanks, does it have taller gearing than the V85TT? I find on the V85 it’s very low geared so would prefer the V7 for road use!

V85 feels like it’s lower revs on the open road for touring. The V7 you going through the box a lot quicker, however nice torque curve means you not going up and down the whole time. On the V7 you run out of revs sooner

Hi. Does the Stone use tubeless tires? How about the Special? I noticed it uses spoked rims. Thanks in advance.

The Stone definetely runs tubeless and I assume the Special would have tubes being spoked 👍🏻

Fantastic beginner bike 💪👌 Reasons I say that is the easy good torquey engine means minimal gearchanges, low seat, wide handle bars, very low Centre of gravity, all these little things will make you feel in charge off the Mike and are confidence inspiring. When it comes to touring the saddlebags are the limitations…… hope this helps 🙏

@@route21garage Superb review, thanks. I have the 850 “special” and have now covered about 9,000 miles/14,000 km. I agree with everything you say about the bikes ease of use and practicality, especially for those of us shorter in the leg. It’s my favourite bike in 40 years of riding everything from 100 cc Hondas to big BMWs. It is so much fun to ride and has, as you say, real style and soul. My previous bike was the Guzzi v7 iii but the 850 has a much better engine, suspension, handling, brakes, and gearbox and clutch (which get better as the bike is run in). I use mine for touring, having fitted Hepco and Becker C-bow panniers and rear rack. It is very comfortable over long distances, helped by its fuel tank’s 250 mile/400 mm range.

No problems in hot weather with the air cooled motor ?

It really is minimal. Maybe compensated by gearing (I don’t know) but feels very similar

@@route21garage Good to hear. I keep gravitating towatds these V7's and see a very low mileage 2018 Milano for a great deal. Stylistically I like that it kind of blends a stone and a special. Dual clocks and chrome pipes but not overdressed with shiny bits. Appreciate the feedback.

Is that ice blue or aluminium/ grey?
