Ctop, I'm pretty sure that the Godzilla is from Godzilla: The series. It's an animated TV show following an offspring of the 1998 Godzilla. Unlike the movie, the series was well praised among the fandom. It gave what the movie didn't.

I think the sonic went so fast because the machine guns where meant to hit him in the direction of the enemy, thus creating the illusion of speed. In short sonic was shooting himself to go faster.

Chris is right. Mothra is Godzilla's wife. But what you guys had fight her was Zilla. It was a normal everyday lizard that was mutated. So it's in no way godzilla.
