    In the poem, she encourages her son to follow her, stay optimistic, and keep moving forward. Life may present us so many obstacles and challenges. The only way to deal with those is to keep grinding with patience, determination, courage, and hope.

    I remember in 2000 Langston Hughes is 1 of many of my favorites. It's a shame this generation prolly won't ever hear this one. I love this. 🙏 Thank You for my fond memories of my being a kid. I'm turning 34 n man Im glad I took the chance to be part of Poetry. 1 Love baby.

    My mother raised us as a single parent. I almost cried watching. I unconciously hurted her especially in my adolescence. Many times I've been down. I think as a man I should stay strong and that's what I'm trying to do...

    I understand, I do because that's been my life, since 6 years old. Have you seen that commercial with the homeless girl blanket over her head, sitting on street, then suddenly she's now a baby sitting there crying. Not one day goes by without me feeling just like that.

    90 of the most important seconds of my life were when an elderly Black woman recited Langston Hughes' poem "Mother to Son" to me, as we marched together 60+ years ago in Wichita, as some people threw rocks at us.
