Both her brothers suffered a lot since childhood. Ling Xiao being accused of his sister's death, his mother abandoning him and then returning back to get him under her control again, being bullied as a child for being a quiet kid. He Zhique's mother leaving him too, always being (indirectly) told that he's an outsider as a child, always thinking he owes Jianjian's family, he won't return back because he wasn't doing as good as Ling Xiao. This drama literally just shows what happens in reality. The emotions, the feelings, the incidents... They all happen irl too. Definitely recommend watching this drama! Currently at 27th episode.

Ling Xiao's mom abandoned him at a young age and physically and mentally abused him since he was young leaving him with traumatic memories, but when she becomes handicapped she expects him to take care of her. He shouldn't have that responsibility as a young adult because even as an adult she couldn't fill half of the responsibility he had as a young adult.
I love this part of "Go Ahead" the most. Go Ahead is one of the dramas I watch time and again. This drama has so much to tell us. Masterpiece.

Trauma-bonding is a hormonal attachment. It lives in the nervous system. The brain makes associations between “love” and abuse or neglect. This happens because the body’s threat response (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) turns off the part of the brain that can think long-term when we are in crisis. This type of conditioning is intuitively exploited by narcissists. They are masters at giving just enough and then ripping it all away. In conjunction with gaslighting, emotional abuse and manipulation designed to make us question our reality, the major building blocks for trauma-bonding are formed. Also cognitive dissonance has to be dissolved first for the trauma-bond to be broken. Don't blame the victim!

Well actually in the last episode, ling xiao asked his father if he repaid or have back to what he owed his mother, referring to the death of his little sister. So I think that he didn't lash out or stop taking care of his mother bc there was some guilt in his heart even tho it wasn't his fault

Пересматриваю эту дораму постоянно. Одна из моих любимых. Заставляющая думать и со переживать героям. Тепла, светлая и светлые чуства... Противоположные по доброте и злу родители. Показали отличных отцов и злых, себя любимых и эгоцентричных женщин - матерей. Мы ждали добра от матерей, а добро и любовь пришла от отцов. Актёры на высоте. Так же пересматриваю дораму ,, Воспоминания юности". Тоже заставляет задуматься, что человек не бывает только плохим и хорошим. Он разный. Может и хороший сделать, то что разрушит жизнь другого. Может и плохой стать опорой в трудное время. Психологический фильм. Смотрю с удовольствием такие фильмы, но увы их можно на пальцах пересчитать. В таких фильмах и роли трудны для актёров и доступны не всем.
