This exact same thing happened with me today. I am 15 and I obviously have crushes but I don't wanna make a boyfriend or something just because I don't want to betray my parents. I even rejected my crush due to this. I wrote about it in my diary. One day my mom saw the diary on the table and held it so I snatched it out of her hand and she was so furious about why I did that. The exact moment my neighbour called her so she went there and I hid the diary by then. I was bathing when she came back. So when I came out, she asked me about the diary and when I said I need privacy and can't show her the diary she got really mad and said that she doesn't trust me anymore. My dad was home too so he tried convincing her that she should give me privacy but she didn't listen. So my dad said that she could read only one page of my choice. He even said I should read it out to her but my mom didn't agree. I even wrote some manifestation about my grades so I showed that to her. My dad was the one who saved me that day. He always suggested me I should make a daily journal to write my thoughts down and he even respects my privacy about it. From now on I don't think I could ever trust my mom. My mom went to the neighbor's house again so I tore all the pages except for the manifestations and hid them. I don't think I will ever trust my mom now. I even feel guilty about giving up my own happiness for her and all she said was "I don't trust you" . I would never be able to trust my mom ever again. My dad understood my feelings and said they went through teenage too and it's okay but my mom didn't really ever respect my privacy. I love writing diaries but now I think I'm giving up this hobby of mine because of my mom. No one will probably even read this but I am just too frustrated with what happened today and really wanted to let my feelings out. I still can't stop crying.

That’s why we write things in diary. So no one else reads it. This is invasion of privacy. I remember one girl left her rough book(which she treats as diary) on her bench and went somewhere. Another girl came and tried to read it but I said no. These things are private and no one is supposed to look at them unless you show it to them.

Protecting ur child is good but every thing has a way, her reaction upon reading the diary is normal but wasn't she the same at her age, her mom might have slapped her or beaten her, what she shld hv learnt is how to deal with these things better than her mom. If she says she is learned and has seen the world then she shld hv known better ways to communicate than raising hand. Beating is easier, making your child understand is difficult, so parents always choose easy ways.

Toh kya issue hai yaar aaram se bhi toh baat ho sakti hai.. I'm also a mom of teenager n u r overreacting to the situation one should understand n talk to their children calmly... I'm not teaching anyone about parenting bt be their best friend plz.

For Indian parents or rather i should say for Asian parents, in their parenting approach... beating to blue their children is far easier than talking to them. I didn't use the word communicate bcz to communicate u 1st need to talk which is rare in Asian parenting style. Things don't resolve btwn parent-child and this cycle keeps on repeating.

There is one reason why mentors says not to fall in relationship at this young age , and that’s something today’s so called “gen z” people doesn’t understand . I myself is from this generation , but this kind of so called “relationships” are immature and mainly hormone driven and because of these , today our generation are facing depression of break ups and what not . This age is to focus on goals , not to involve in relationships . That’s why in early ages , in gurukuls , gurus had strict strict observations on their students so that they doesn’t get attracted by these felling and get away from their path and dharma at that young age . Also a mother is the person who gave birth to that child and she has every right to check in her daily activities to protect her and keep her safe from any outside dangers as they have seen the world more than us .
