There are some STIs that you can contract but only show up in your system at a later date. Some of the symptoms do not show at the time you got it because your immune system is strong and fights off the symptoms, but they show up later during a period of high stress or illness (or pregnancy) when your immune system is compromised. So just because a person tests positive for an STI at the time they are with you, doesn't mean that they cheated.
