Mother & Daughter Sailing Dream Team! - S2EP11

In this episode my mom and I sail on our first offshore, overnight passage to Charleston! We have a smooth and calm night before the wind and waves pick up in the morning and someone gets a little seasick.

Two words.......”well done” !!! Especially when the weather picked up near the end of the sail. I applaud the way you didn’t panic ( not on camera anyway ! ) when slight “hiccups” occurred- such as headsail not raising smoothly, you realised there was a problem , identified it, fixed it and carried on 😊👍

Alternator: Sometimes the brushes get hung up, especially when they are getting close to the end of life. I’ve been able to bring an alternator back to life by tapping it...this frees up the brushes so they make contact with the commutator. It’s definitely not a long term solution but might help you in a pinch.

Able seaman mom is wonderful and I know she's so proud and happy for you. "The only limits we have are the limits we place on ourselves" I admire you on many levels. Remember, "steady as she goes, always" PS: Mom's beautiful too! Tell her: "don't be nervous don't be shy just bend over the rail and let it fly....."

Hello Taylor, My name is Virgil, from Ferndale Washington. Great job Taylor. I want to share a secret about your alternator, and even starters do the same thing. They'll stop working. People have told me, when that happens, to take a hammer, and lightly tap on it, and it can start charging again. If its the starter, same thing, give it a tap with a hammer, and it starts working again. And as crazy as it sounds, it actually works a lot of the time Virgil
