If you are brand new to Mostly Autumn and not just this song, they’ve been going since 1998. This song is very Pink Floyd-like but their music is very diverse overall. I would describe it as catchy, melodic prog rock. Mix of male and female lead vocals. This can vary between joint as here, female only, male only or alternating within a song. The music can roughly be divided into the Heather and Olivia years after the two female leads. The style changed a bit but both female leads are good in different ways.

Just read your post. I am sorry that you lost your Dad recently. My condolences. I hope you've checked out more of their music, plenty of lovely guitar solos to be heard. This song comes from their first album, released in 1998, and I've been a fan ever since. I am particularly fond of the releases when Heather Findlay was still in the band. She left around 2010.

One of the very few guitar solos that remind me in a number of ways of Steve Hackett's guitar solo in Firth of Fifth. A great complement indeed.

There are some people you meet through life, maybe only fleetingly, that nevertheless leave a lasting impression. Liam was one of those people. I liked all the members of that band, but Liam, a founding member, along with Bryan, really stood out. He was younger than me too! Feeling really gutted at the mo. I hope Bryan's ok. It must have been really hard on him. They were such good friends, even before they formed the band. All my love Bryan. I'm sure you'll get through this with help from your family and friends. Many thanks to the both of you for all you've given us.

Yea....the solo remind me Steve Rothery style, very very emotional!

hard to choose between the gradual crescendo here, and the wondrous explosion of "Half the Mountain"

Beatifull music

This song always reminds me of paragliding, through the mountains of the Lake District and Scotland. Though I only ever flew during the daytime, this music immerses me in a dream of flying though these places at night. Bryan really should take up flying .... he'd love it!

Hallo Heike, schön dass hier noch jemand Deutsch spricht... Die Melodiesen dieses Stücks sind wirklich angenehm. Für manche Zuhörer mag der erste Teil zu ruhig sein, daher verpassen sie dann den wilden Teil, den ich wirklich gut finde. Ähnlich wie in "Carpe Diem". Grüße aus Hannover.

Daraku Bryan is very much his own musician with Pink Floyd as a major influence early on. Nothing about Steve Rothery who is brilliant in The Wishing Tree btw.

They sound nothing like Pink Floyd. When did Floyd use folk instruments like violin, whistle, flute and Uillean pipes, or use female vocals regularly? The guitarist plays with a similar tone to Dave Gilmour (but much more technically) and they admit to being influenced by Floyd. And that's it. And one review described them as "the new Pink Floyd" - they aren't. They are the first Mostly Autumn.
