Thank you SOOO MUCH FOR THIS SHOW! I am 51 and in perimenopause and I'm so RELIEVED to hear of you ladies addresssing what is happening to ALL OF US at some point. It's as " normal" a process as a menstrual cycle and I'm so GRATEFUL to you for bringing this WORLDWIDE TOPIC into a CASUAL CONVERSATION! THANK YOU! 😁😊🙏😁😊
What a refreshing segment!! I didn't even know that businesses MIGHT address menopause. I wish I'd known - it might have changed a lot for me in my career! But then again, I was in my 40s when menopause hit. I'm glad it's over with!
Menopause is a huge time of transition for women and it can be extremely challenging to navigate. Brain fog was a real issue for me too, Mika! I am surprised how many women don't know the symptoms. I was very lucky to have been in a somatic healing training program in my early 30's with a group of women 10 to 15 years older than me, most of whom were experiencing menopausal symptoms. So, I was aware of such things when I hit my early 40's and starting to experience anxiety. I was confused because it was so new to me. That's when I remembered how many of those women mentioned above had also experienced it and then it made sense! Thank goodness, because it can be quite discombobulating when one starts to feel so different within the body, mind and spirit. Glad you are addressing it here and bringing awareness to it! :)

@Friendof Cheapergas I think women are always held accountable. I just wish that the playing field was even, and men were held to the same level of accountability.
It was the migraines that came with perimenopause that drove me out of the workforce. My employer was being flexible about it, but I was just in too much pain and felt like I was letting everyone down. I did not speak to HR about it.
I was through with menopause at age 45. I went into mennopause at age 38. It is real and the symptoms are no fun!
There was a mega study done maybe 10 years ago by a group of psychologists on how women worldwide experience menopause. Their findings were that women in the US and secondarily in the UK experience more symptoms and more severe symptoms than any other country or culture. They ruled out diet and lifestyle by looking at women who moved here from other countries and subsequently reported the same symptoms as women who have lived here all their lives. Their conclusion was culture is the underlying cause. American culture glorifies the young and physically attractive woman or the maternal. Women through TV, movies and advertising are taught that they are supposed to maintain that image in order to be successful and accepted. In other words, American culture devalues women. Worldwide, an older woman is revered for her wisdom and experience. This subtle undermining of value was found to be a driver of menopausal symptoms
No one talks about the main symptom of menopause. Feeling like someone has set your entire skin covering your entire body on fire. They call it hot flashes. They are not flashes. More like self immolation. How do you work like that?

This is another issue that women have to deal with that require nuance and individuality. When my mother went through menopause, she rarely experienced symptoms. Of course, her menstrual cycles were horrendous. Unfortunately, what will be done in response will be as blunt and broad as a 10 lb sledgehammer.
All I needed was a walk-in freezer when people walking past me could feel the heat pouring off me.
HUGE ISSUE! It started with me in perimenopause. I quit my job. Then, I had an adverse reaction to the vaccine (myopericarditis) , then 6 months after, got Covid, and have Long-Covid, on top of Menopause (peri-menopause). It's been 8 months since my last period, and we are waiting for the 12 month milestone. After my vaccine, I had severe hemorrhaging, heart issues, (BP 200/100, and I'm a marathon runner!), and more, went to the hospital- (twice) just one of the symptoms which included heart problems. Found I developed a tumor on my uterus. It took 8 months for me to see a cardiologist. STILL dealing with this. And, working full time, self employed. But it's SO hard! Thanks for covering this!
Thankfully I had no impact from menopause on my life. No hot flashes, no emotional overload, no change just no periods. It was wonderful!

Same, which I attributed to being vegan for many years. Now 15 yrs post-menopause, the brain fog and apathy is finally affecting me. Executive function issues. Fatigue. It’s awful.
Argh, brain fog, lack of motivation, forgetting what I'm saying halfway through a sentence, waking up 5 times in the night and not being able to get back to sleep for 30 mins each time. Hot flushes are the least bothersome of my symptoms. Unpleasant for a few minutes, but then gone. It's the rest that bothers me. I've managed to improve my sleep by going decaf, taking magnesium, vitamin D, and using earbuds designed for sleeping in with a guided meditation track each night. Cutting the majority of carbs also seems to have helped with maintaining my energy levels and any bloating or water retention.
Thank you for talking about this topic. Much needed!!
Not me I've been going through it for 10 years. I didn't take the meds cause it's a side effect of catching cancer. I've been fighting it but my mood swings and hot flashes are really bad. I just tell my boss when you see me sweating. Run for your life. He told me his mom went through it. Mines is really bad at night😞😞😞😞 I wish Stella could get her groove back.😞🤞🏽 Menopause sucks 💯💯🙄🤦🏾💯💯

MHT doesn't make you "catch cancer". Educate yourself before you spout utter nonsense.
Its amazing this is being discussed but average women wont get help beyond being fired regardless of their ability. In a country where employers are turning to ai to replace our young professionals there will be no accomadarion for anyone. Let alone women who half of America want to make into second class citizens with no control over their bodies.
Well, OK, but being a 50-something year old guy has negatively impacted my work life, personal life, health, etc. Help me first.
Wonderful that this topic is getting more attention, women are humans and there indeed is an opportunity to start a change in how menopause can be viewed as part of life of a woman on all areas.
Not only do employers not get it. Neither do most MDs. Men are freeyl given Testosterone fir their 'Low T'. But I found, when I had to have both ovaries removed in my 40's I was only alowed to take Estrogen for 2 yrs!😮😢😢😮😮
American HR departments - unfortunately - are NOT our friends.
This is just another nail in the coffin of women in the workplace. Men, as you can see by the empathetic comments, will use this to make our working life even harder. Medical personnel also need to be enlightened about menopause in order to provide a lifeline for women who are experiencing more difficult menopause symptoms.

My 65 year old wife has never had any issues. Maybe it's a inherited blessing. Her mother was 52 when she gave birth to my wife and never suffered from this.
Can men get menopause??
@ainsleybishop4908

Yes. It's caused Andropause. It's caused by a dip in testosterone from early forties to mid fifties. Not near the range of symptoms that women experience, but I'm sure it's no fun for men.
How can they say that when nobody can define what a women is.
I had to wofk though it but the git migraine headaches from it...
A female coworker at my company recently went through menopause. It definitely impacted our work lives.

This is a good point of departure. We need to acknowledge that what women experience is a reality, and addressing it is good for the whole of society. I would also like to suggest that we need to look at Male Menopause, as well, because I suspect that it may not be observabliy physically, but may impact the males mental condition , and potentially lead to poor judgement. Just a thought.

@@jkdstudio1242 I agree, and I believe women should receive free care for any related issues, as this is a human condition. My issue is that women probably suffer even more because of male menopause, because it's not visible. I feel it should be investigated.

Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make Mistake but they don’t quit, The stock market Has plenty of opportunities to earn a decent Payouts with the right skills and proper Understanding of how the market works. My advice to anyone feeling the heat in this bad market, is to start trading in long term more than ever. If you can then get a professional to trade for you I think that way your assets are more secure. I invest with expert Mr K and the profits is great even with the dip.

"Cramps" are NOT a symptom of menopause. Menopause is when a woman ceases to have a period. Cramps may or may not occur when a woman HAS a period.
