Technically-and as we all know, technically right is the best kind of right-it’s a digital smart watch, one most people had no idea IWC ever made. A bit of constructive criticism here: I appreciate the stories you tell, but they are getting harder to watch. Way too much droning on before you get to the point... or the watch. Here, we didn't hear about the watch until almost 8 minutes, and barely scratched the surface. I'd love to see you go back to how you did some of your older videos, where the focus is more on what makes the watch unique and tell us about it. Recently, it feels like you're getting further and further away from that.

I appreciate Watchfinder introducing this Ingenieur Digital Perpetual Calendar watch. I think it is vastly under-rated and under-appreciated. However, I should point out this movement design is not new, and this Ingenieur is not the first model to use it. IWC has had it for years. In fact, its first variation was used way back in 2009 on their Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar (IW3761). Since then, this movement has been used in various models, including Pilot, Portugieser and even the previous generation (Genta-inspired) Ingenieur.

I’ve watched your videos for ages, but the format is starting to shift in a way that is increasingly frustrating. 90% of the videos are now about completely tangential issues (like the etymology of the word “smart”, even though this watch legitimately isn’t a smartwatch, making the subject completely irrelevant) and massive deep dives into a year in the life of a watchmaker, as opposed to simply talking about the watch in the video. I can’t be the only one who’s getting annoyed by this “we need to make the video over 10 minutes for extra ad revenue” mentality.

Digital, maybe but "smart watch" is just muddying a term. The engineers who designed it are smart but this watch is a single function device.

Humorless horologists panning this video: He’s trying to sell a watch. One way is to tell a story. Another is to list features, benefits, and construction like a furnace salesman. He uses both approaches at times. If you like this watch you’ll go learn more. If you don’t you won’t. If you are relying on any video as your total pre purchase diligence you are not *smart* in any event and probably unworthy of this watch.

Unfortunately the type of people that care about status symbols in watches (probably a huge part of Watchfinder's customer base - especially rings true after seeing their TV adverts involving luxury cars) don't tend to go in for any kind of intellectual discussion. They see it as waffle. And to be fair, a lot of this video was pseudo-intellectual waffle.
