I wish someone would do right by everyone that has been snubbed by them and go back through records and say "X won Y, but Z should have won." For everything. Super unrealistic, but how else does one company right so many jacked results? EXO deserved better. Actively deserves better. Everything that went down Mnet is sadly just a handful of pebbles compared to the pile of stones that makes up everything they have gone through. But those pebbles were seriously effed.

I honestly wish the voting criteria would change. Instead of fan voting, professional judges choose who deserves to win. Example of unfair voting in my opinion is when songs that are a hit doesn't get any wins because the person they are competing with is popular, therefore all the votes go to them. It's really sad because these songs deserved a win and certain groups deserve a win as well. Also with the votings in survival show, you can really tell a lot of people vote these trainees either they have a lot of screentime, an idol before or very pretty. It's sad to be honest. So I really want voting criterias to change. Edit: Changed my mind, I agree with the comments saying that public and judges can both vote. I think its fairer that way :)

"Professional judges" are not an improvement. Since the shows are all about contestants who aspire to be in Kpop, using popularity (as manifested by public voting) is not a problem. The "pop" in Kpop literally means "popular". The problem is scripting, manipulation and rigging by producers. Scripting and manipulation means that the producers, in order to enhance drama or to make sure that some contestant with powerful backers wins, will in advance designate losers and winners and will edit and plan the show to make the designated losers look untalented and uncool, while making the designated winners look cool, nice, friendly and super talented. Rigging can also mean handling voting in ways that are not honest. Ultimately, it doesn't matter how the public votes, if the votes are counted and shown dishonestly. The problem with "professional judges" is that they can be manipulated very easily too. They can collude together and, according to a script given to them, be really hyper-critical and negative toward designated losers, while being very easy going and full of easy praise for designated winners. And there is no such thing as any "professional judge" who has to be accountable to an objective, not-corrupt organization with regard to opinions expressed on an audition show. A lot of the shows do have judges and they are often criticized for not being objective and often making judgments that are biased and nonsensical.

It's just so relieving that EXO as a group didn't attend MAMA again.

Though I love produce groups. I still feel very bad for the other contestants who worked hard and were supposed to actually debut :(

Lets not forget Dreamcatcher with "Deja Vu" loosing against Everglow. Nothing against Everglow, but there was some shady things going on with Dreamcatcher loosing by 11 points. They finally got their more than deserved win with "Maison", but our beloved seven had to go through some rough terrain.

The producers of these shows don't want them to be fair. They want them to be dramatic, entertaining and popular. Accomplishing those goals usually means lots of scripting, designating winners and designating losers, building up some contestants as heroic fan favorites and making other contestants be little more than "loser" characters.

We will not forget MAMA 2017 and what it did to Exo

Lim Young Woong's case just raised the suspicion against Music Bank, but before that, there were already cases of Vote Manipulation that happened. I will take Taeyeon's INVU vs Kim Wooseok's song as an example since it's the most recent one before Lim Young Woong vs Le Sserafim case.

I hate something like vote manipulation but I miss X1. I love and will forever love them and they are just so special to me. I understand to cancel the masterminds of the vote manipulation and dirty game but the X1 members are all talented and didn't had anything to do with that shit. It's sad to see how none could handle them and just let the group down when their had so much potential for the future. I will never forgive them what they did to X1.

Honestly there was an article floating around on allkpop saying that they rigged first place and that the real first place was Wooseok. Whether that’s true or not kind of doesn’t matter. If there’s a published article of alleged staff saying the center isn’t real then a produce group is likely to not continue. Remember there is no record of any alleged pd48 staff saying first place was rigged. I feel like that’s why IZ*ONE continued while X1 disbanded.

I would also look into the 2017 MAMA SOTY one. As a ONCE, I’m happy TWICE won with Signal but so many people thought Red Velvet had it in the bag with Red Flavor so I would also look into that one.

The worst are those affecting the contestants from becoming a member and debuting. They trained hard and rightfully, their sweat, tears and efforts should have bore fruits. Winning awards are a plus. The idols are already successfully.

I still miss X1, they had the best debut in my opinion

You feel sad for the ones who debuted but didn't even think about the ones that got cheated on? They wasted time, money and effort and all they got is false hope. People like you will never accept the fact that these rigged groups are also accomplices of the crime, intentional or not. Look at what Idol School did to Lee Hae-In, she was robbed of her #1 winning spot and permanently ended her chances of debuting.

If you even read on half about this Idol School scandal yo would know that most of the ones who debuted didn't even go thru the initial auditions, they were given the practice materials "in advance" for the show so they would look better, they were also given the materials for their debut even before the show started. They know that they are bypassing auditions and know that they are cheating their way to debuting, the hate they are getting everyday is warranted. Alot of idol trainees work their asses for more than 10 years just for a chance to debut and some even fail to reach their goal and some of these girls just paid their way to debuting? LOL.

Too bad for X1 who disbanded in less than a year. While I was watching Produce 101 S2, all trainees really deserve to debut. But I became more said when I heard that Baekho was supposed to be part of the debut line. Just imagine how the trainees felt after finding out about the voting manipulation scandal. I hope something like this will really stop.

We all know SM idols don't need the talent verification from Mnet and other broadcasting channels. Same goes with some YG artists, no matter how wreck of the companies they are it is a fact that they have the most talented artists.

PX101 did it. season 1 was already suspicious, then came season 2.. but they can't hide it anymore with px101. They messed with the wrong contestant. They messed with Jin Hyuk who was a crowd and contestant favorite. Anyone who watched px101 definitely knew something was off. Even Lee dong wook's face didnt look convinced with the line up. lee jinwoo suddenly out of top 10 after being in top 5 since the show started. The poor kid got a lot of hate too. idol school was messier. it was obvious that they were pre-selected and the other girls only used for clout. MAMA is known to be a shitty award show. That's why many artists boycott it. They would even make a new category just to have a group on the show. If the real winner cannot attend the show, they give it to someone else.

Pd 101 season 1 was rigged during the elimination, not the finale. In season 2, i think 1 person was rigged out (baekho) Pd48 we all know chowon and gaeun Pd X got it messed up

Some fandon be came lazy because of mama 2017 I don't want to remember the dark Knight of fans who believe them idol who work so hard in just tretend like that...

I hate that with the vote manipulation.It hurt the ones who got eliminated/lost the award/win for no reason and the ones who got into the group/win/award because it's like you don't deserve it and the contestants worked so hard for this.It would be better if there is no voting for contestants in shows or categorys in award shows because they should focus on the talents (I know it's hard because we all know everyone is talented in kpop)not on the popularity on the groups.

Hey will you make an update on what happened with that SOPA scandal? Like i forgot that even happened but did they succeed in making a change or was everything buried because of the school's connections?

Girls Planet 999, Mnet's most recent survival show, is very suspicious to me. In the final line up Shen Xiaoting ended in 9th place, barely making it to the debut line, while out of the 6 times that rankings were announced she took 3rd place the first time, 2nd place the second time, and 1st place the next three times. She never got out of the top 3 until the last episode, when her ranking dropped dramatically. She wasn't even as evil edited as the rest of the Chinese contestants who made it to the top 9, so her popularity didn't fall through the competition. She actually got more and more popular as the show went on. So, how come she fell to last place, and a girl who never got higher than 8th place ranked 1st in the final episode? To me, that doesn't add up. It would be different if Xiaoting lost a lot of popularity and the other girl became extremely popular somewhere during the competition, but that wasn't the case. Suspicions were raised, but a lot of people said that Mnet wouldn't risk rigging the votes after their past scandal and that Mnet had no say in the rankings since the votes were submitted through the Universe app. But I don't think any of those situations are definite proof that nothing shady happened. Companies make the same mistakes over and over again and Mnet doesn't have to own Universe for them or the companies of the girls to make agreements. Oh, by the way, the girl who rocketed from 8th place to 1st place without justification was a Wake One trainee, one of the companies involved in the show.

that was because the change of voting system, before u had to vote for one for each team (k-j-c) and xiaoting was like most popular Chinese contestant so ppl voted for her because they had to vote for one from the c team, the same w yurina in the j team, but for the final people only could vote for one so a lot of ppl just didn't vote for her (if u see the interim ranks that were posted few days before the final she was in like top15) and also the fact that Korean votes weighted the same as the international votes and most knets just dislike chinese contestants for being chinese, and for example chaehyun was rank1 in Korean votes and still on the top9 in intl votes lol so that's why (she also has ranked really high in the interim check i said before)

6 out of the 9 members are korean. It is obvious that netizens were going vote for the korean trainees. Also, they changed the voting system for the last episode. People had more than 1 favorite trainee (in past episodes you were able to for 1 trainee of each category) so ranks were bound to change drastically.

MNET didn’t rig the GP999 line up, but fans did use bot accounts to vote for their favorites (if you watched the show you know which 2 trainees im talking about) which is totally unfair. also the fact SXT and yurina dropped dramatically was cuz at the end you were only allowed to vote to 1 trainee instead of the 9-3 which messed the entire line up all together. the only valid reason i see this being a thing is cuz they didn’t want a J or C trainee being 1st 🤷🏻

@@vinci2617 she was a very popular contestant for her angelic vocals and because she looked like a combination of irene and han sohee (not to mention that she is the lost member of aespa and former sm trainee). She impressed everyone with her vocals during the my sea performance (one of the most rewinded moments in gp999). With the voting system changing in the last episode, i knew her ranking would sky rocket. Note that Su Ruiqi, Yurina and even Cai Bing were fan favorites who almost always ranked in the top 9, yet their ranking plummeted in the last episode (except for cai bing who was eliminated before the final episode). At the end of the day, the rankings were based off of the popularity of each girl. Also, note that all the Korean trainees took the rankings of 1-6. Netizens wanted most of the Korean trainees to be part of the final lineup, so they mass voted. It's amazing how Hikaru, Mashiro and Xiaoting managed to debut despite the favoritism by the fans. In the interim rankings, Chaehyun ranked 1st place (with her in the lead, that was the opening knetizens were waiting for). It's obvious that they didn't want a Japanese or Chinese contestant winning 1st place. So they focused all their energy and votes on her. In a way, she was there at right place in the right time.

Pop music literally means "popular music". It's just a shortened "slang" for "popular music". Everyone can argue about "talent" because it means different things to different people, even though there are some things that most people generally can agree upon. But you can't really have any meaningful conversation about "pop" music without acknowledging that POPULARITY is what it's all about. There are lots of extremely talented musicians who never become popular because the music INDUSTRY doesn't want to popularize them for some reason or another. (Think of Eva Cassidy who performed in small clubs as a hobby when she was alive. But after dying, a promoter made her popular and millions of albums were sold. She is considered one of the most gifted singers ever.) Anyone expecting voting in a pop entertainment show (such as MAMA or any other big music award show) that gives awards in the area of pop music not to be based on popularity is basically living in an alternative reality. (Of course, the actual results with regard to who gets awards is often more based on who the industry elites want to popularize versus who would become genuinely popular naturally in any system that is not manipulated and rigged.)

It is weird and stupid when someone also blame the contestant who choosed by Mnet. And it is weird that someone still watching survival show by Mnet.

Dreamcatcher better be on this list. Everyone knows they got screwed over

Because of the beef with their record label and they know EXO is a monster artist who would dominate like they did trying to say they wanted to give other artists a chance if someone fans is voting day and night give them the award that they were winning

These awards should not just be decided by popularity. The most popular artists aren't necessarily the best artists. There should be categories that fans can vote on, but limit the number of times individuals can vote. Also get ride of paying to get more vote and verification codes and winning more votes. Make it even. Each fan gets the same number of votes. Then have categories that are voted on by other artists/people in the music industry like producers. These categories should judge talent. Then have categories for sales/streaming/radio play.

Exactly! I feel horrible for the two idols who were supposed to debut, but that in NO WAY justifies the hate and cruelty towards the idols who did get in to IZ*ONE. It is not their fault that Mnet manipulated the votes.

actually, believe it or not, organically, there were supposed to be 6 k and 6 j on izone. if the police announced the j trainees who were cut from the lineup, that would involve having to bring in another countrys laws and regulations.
