Pretty sure a lot of people, including myself, saw the thumbnail and were disappointed to see the sledgehammer doesn't actually get shredded

I was thinking the sledgehammer might cause the shredder to break. Clearly, there is no way the shredder's teeth (presumably standard steel) are stronger than a solid block of the same material.

What's amazing to me more than the machines themselves are what it took to make these machines. Whenever I watched "How Things Are Made", I was always more fascinated with the machines making the things and how THEY were made.

As an engineer I ask myself what's the point? For centuries we and levels of helpers have been making more efficient machinery and processes, generating higher yields. And what happens to those yields? People just keep pooping out more and more babies who are less and less productive. Whining about how their generation is somehow not getting what it deserves. Phooey.

@emilyachickwholikesstuff3632
Жыл бұрын
Actually perfection isn't found in nature. That's why "organic shapes" are called organic because it's not perfect or semtrical..it's natural. There are mathematical symmetries and scientific rhythm to natural things like sprialing seashells...but even nature isn't perfect. You can't even find an actual 90 degree angle or a perfect circle in nature.

Which machine would I like to try out? Well back in the day I did drive an overhead gantry steel scrap crane at BHP Port Kembla here in Australia before graduating to driving to overhead cranes that lifted and moved steel plate and even drove a mill crane that was capable of lifting over a thousand tons. Best part of my job was we were encouraged to multi skill so I got to use some pretty massive and awesome machinery from cranes, turnover tables to paint machines and shears that could cut steel plate up to 4inches thick or use a machine called a leveller that could make steel plates perfectly flat. Great video thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

hi! welder here, 8:27 is tig welding; not soldering. this weld in particular may look superficially good but were I to yell loudly, it would sunder like an autumn leaf. want super satisfying welds? look for someone good at "metal core mig welding", I got some welds in that process that looked like dragon scales... and could stand up to abuse. conversely, properly done tig welds have temper colours that look like a beautiful iridescent sheen.

Wow amazing beautiful video,
Being an ex instrument maker it sometimes surprises me how slow these machines can be.
I have to say, the helicopter saw was pretty impressive.
Unpleasant to be enjoying watching machines do their thing and then abruptly get faced with salmon being chopped open and their guts spilled out.
