The one sad thing about TS is how Dovetail has treated it. The game engine is absolutely ancient and has become very PS2-esque. If they can pair the technical fidelity of TS to the graphical fidelity of TSW then they will have a solid product.

The not so shiny graphics sometimes look more realistic than tsw cuz it basically looks perfect, and in reality things never really look perfect if they are in use so thats the logic behind the "bad" graphics looking more realistic

Old guy hobbies? Seriously? You do realize that their are tons of people younger than you that are railfans? I'm not sure about Canada, but here in the US you would have had an investigation for your alleged violation of failure to have your ditch lights on while operating on the main line, then disciplined accordingly. ie fired. Secondly, It's 2 short toots of the whistle to indicate you're moving agead. If you ever blow the whistle that long while working with a crew, they'd probably hit you upside your head. Thirdly, There are no "Yellow" lights. They are "Amber". Fourthly, The alerter will cause a 'Penalty" application of the air brakes not an "Emergency" Application. I'm just nit picking here, Great video BTW.

*"Why does this happen every time?"* Probably because you blew past that Approach signal and didn't slow, preparing to stop at the next signal. It doesn't take long to study and learn standard signals. You can find them on the internet.

This is why in my area, you can get a ticket for talking in your car. Its called distracted driving. Trains are on a whole different level. You get distracted, you crash and die. Train driving and livestreams don't work because of all the distractions involved. Just record the video without dialog, focus on the game, then dub the voice-over, then do a live premier. Much better that way.

  • @andyrauoy

Sounds much better than any of the trains Ive heard in TSW2, but the graphic... looks like a early 2000game. I think the graphic in TSW2 is much better, but not exactly cutting edge there neither. They should convert this loc to TSW as well:) Great video

Very nice sim. I've worked as train crew and agree on its realism. The "hum" you mentioned I think of as a whine. It's likely either the turbochargers or electric traction motors. DId you notice the white metal teapot stand? Teapots are required in Canadian cabs! The signal confused me, too. Looks like it was clear for the #2 track and stop for you (us). Should've been a green over red due to the siding that followed, so it could show a diverging approach if a train was going into the siding. Not possible on the single-light stand you saw. If you're bored with this, it's realistic! That rocking motion used to have me fighting sleep even during the day. But if you stop to do pickups and setoffs at various yards, you'd be less bored. Planning those takes some brain power! The 50/45 sign means 50mph for passenger trains, 45 for freight. As to the brakes, if you use dynamic brakes (you have to look it up) you can back off them, even though the air brakes don't let you. At about 45:45 I believe that was a lunar signal, not yellow. That would be a "restricting" indication. Either way, it warned of a possible Stop signal ahead. That's why you busted that red one.Railroading can be exciting!

Slam it into run 8 from a dead stop at 16:53. In real life, probably would have snapped a knuckle. One reason I stopped playing this game is for the unrealistic physics. Stopping that heavy train in about 300 feet without much of a brake reduction is nearly impossible in real life. Don't get me wrong, I love the game for the visuals and audio, but the physics are just insanely off from the real thing.

Many train cabins still look non photorealistic, esp the control levers. The interior & instruments of Microsoft Flightsim cabins of a Cessna 172 or Beechcraft Barron even 20 years ago looked like a real photo. The controls on dovetail look early 3D graphics..why.? btw, The exteriors mainly look authentic & sounds are of real engines..so no issues there at all.

All games disappointing for 2021! Not a single simulator/game comes close to the quality of MSFS 2020. The foliage looks like it is from 2006 still. Textures are cartoonish. Nothing really realistic. They all look rushed through and the 3d modeling and textures are just re-used I suspect. I've wasted far too much money hoping to find the next great thing in train sims. It has yet to come along. :( blah blah blah... rant. LOL. Realistic in function, vs. realistic looking. The sounds are also just not what they could/should be.

@@Curious_Skeptic lol really? MSFS might look good but simulation depth is a joke. Asobo can't even get some stuff right so that 3rd party developers can build a study level aircraft. Did you ever take a look at DCS world, Xplane11? There you can see what is already possible. Not talking about the graphics. You prefer graphics over proper simulation, that's fine.
