I am a Korean fan. Levi is overwhelmingly popular among Aot characters in our country. I think everyone liked Levi until season 3, but after season 4, there seem to be a lot of comments comparing it to Eren. this is why I didn't enjoy season 4 as much as I enjoyed the first 3 seasons. Levi was always the strongest person, someone who could beat titans and any other human enemy, even though he had no special powers like eren. and he was handsome too. But then for season 4 they had to cripple Levi in order to give spotlight to Eren. and they completely changed erens character design, with new hair style and all that, eventhough most of the other characters had the exact same features as they had when they were kids. its like the creators were FORCING people to start loving Eren the main character instead of captain Levi. and people started to make fun of Levis short height or his age, something which never happened before season 4! its sad. 😢that's why I believe Levi is always the best aot character and deserve #1 but fans keep shit talking him for no reason !

Did you know that Levi was chosen as the most loved character in the Japanese survey? He's still popular!

Levi what a legend never left the list and moreover he is not the main character and didn't get much screen time,just imagine if he got as much screen time as much as the trio did

I remember the manga leaks dropping during first period statistics in my senior year. Thanks to the cliffhanger of the previous chapter, we all knew it was coming. The leaks ended up being later than usual that day; it was absolutely chaos. We all kind of figured it was Obito for a while but...oh boy. The only thing I can really compare that morning to would be when Dabi from MHA trended during the 2020 US elections. Wild times. 😂

It's really interesting how you can tell an anime is going through a big arc or plot twist by how the characters go up in popularity. For example, ATTACK ON TITAN SPOILERS AHEAD (I'm using this anime specifically bc I just finished watching it so I'm familiar with the arcs and twists.) Sasha has a sudden spike in popularity in February of 2021, which was around the same time the episode she died in was released. Eren is at the top of the list in January of 2022 which is when he is working with Zeke, right before the Rumbling happens in February of 2022. In April of 2013 there is a huge spike in interest of Mikasa and Eren (poor Armin) which is also when the anime first aired. Now I am not certain on the exact air dates of everything, but based on assumption, when Annie skyrockets to the top I can guess that was probably around the time she was revealed to be the Female Titan. Also, when Levi takes the number 1 spot, I'm guessing that is probably around the time he started becoming more of a fleshed-out character that people enjoyed.

The fact that this list start at 2006 with 6 characters from the top 10 are from dragon Ball is crazy

Dragon Ball and Naruto seems to be the most consistent franchises

honestly kinda crazy that luffy never hit number one and this also shows how dominant naruto was in the 2000's. At one point the entire top 5 were only naruto characters

I love it when the song swithes when a another character shows up.

3 and 4 being Luffy and Zoro, and then Nami is there too. Yooooooooo! Law, Ace, Doflamingo, Katakuri all showed up as well. But since this is only Google search, they would be more popular on other search engines.

Well, Although we have seen so many awesome popular characters, I must highlight those two: 1. Broly. 10m+ searches is an undisputed record (others could reach even 4m) 2. Nagatoro. You have no idea how happy I was to see Light still on the list even after so many years! And I know the series was especially popular in 2017 because of the live action, so it's one of the reasons Death Note still stands as one of the best series of all time
