Lol that was an obvious one. Mamamoo being at the top as well. Those four are hands down the most consistently successful 3rd gen girl groups. After they got their breaks, they've either maintained or continued to build momentum and are still doing so now.

Dreamcatcher almost feels more like a 4th gen group. Sure, they debuted in 2017, but since their big blow up began more in late 2019 and 2020 with Deja Vu and Scream, it makes them feel more like peers to the early 4th gen groups g-idle, Everglow, and ITZY. Heck, even variety shows have tended to feature them more with 4th gen groups than 3rd. It reminds me of the situation with AOA and EXID who debuted in 2012. No one knew exactly where they fit at first and people still argue if they are 2nd, 3rd, or transitional groups. It's more in retrospect and due to the fact that they had their rise in popularity at the same time as the current big 3rd gen groups that caused people to think of them more as peers. Sometimes it isn't so much about a group's debut date as it is the years they were most relevant, successful, and active in that defined the gen they are eventually considered.

Same. I feel like all the groups that appeared in 2012 were 2nd gen. But then I remember that Exo debuted in 2012 and I think of them as 3rd gen. It's more about the type of music I guess
