Great collection there, lovely vehicles, especially the Plymouths but also the Dodges! I pretty much love them all. Every time this song comes on I think 'Cops'. Great show.

I love all of them. I hope NYPD saves a couple of each kind of vehicle that they don't use anymore.

The blue cars with the white stripe down the side, in the 70s were the best. They LOOKED like cop cars. Nothing against the NYPD, but the white cars of today look sissified. Stay safe. Cop lives matter!

The problem is cops have the guns and use it liberally. To say that a gun-toting dude's life matters, is silly. He can protect himself, thank you. Think of all those unarmed people whose lives have been snuffed out by cops!

i just love those NYPD Impalas from the 90s, they look so clean! And they remind me of a certain game from my childhood, GTA 3!

NYPD always had mostly beat up cars in it's fleet in the 80s when I was a kid living there, I even saw an in service 1977 Plymouth Fury in Queens in march of 1989. It's not uncommon nowadays to have 15 year old Crown Vics cruising around, but that looked so outdated at the time.

On that note, I was looking through a book on Mopar Police Cars, and there was a picture of a 1974 Plymouth Fury Station wagon, and the caption read that it was still in service in late 1988, when the photo was taken. It was a little worse for wear, but still not bad for being on the streets on NYC for all those years.

I remember the Plymouth Furys at 3:06 they were some fast cars and you could hear the 4 barl carb for 2 miles....

Absolutely you could! Some of the Cops in different areas would turn the lid over on the air cleaner & it would make the awesome noise when they kicked in the 4bbl, especially if it was a 383,400 or 440. Good Day to You!

Universities use them too, and it makes sense if you're patrolling a small geographic area you don't need a big squad car.

One more thing wrong with NYC, add it to the list. They buy non-American car brands for their law enforcement. That's never supposed to happen with taxpayer dollars, regardless of where the cars might be assembled.
