Our old lady went blind from cataract towards the end of her life, and with a few adjustments like teaching her a keyword to know she was going to be touched or picked up, she did incredibly well. My hat goes off to all those wonderful people who put in the time and effort to help disabled animals have full happy lives. As a disabled human, it's very close to my heart.

That may be, because it's actually hardly a difference having a blind dog to having a seeing one. If you are a caring, cautious owner, you look closely after your pup anyway. And the dogs in general really don't have any issues with these kinds of disabilities.

ALL the Bondi vets are so incredible. It's so infuriating to me when all these other vets and professionals say "there's nothing we can do." "They should be put down." No. It's not that they can't. It's that they won't. The Bondi vets are proof of that. Even when the situation looks hopeless they find a way.

I'm going to mention a vet I had 22 years ago. Her name is Hege (Norwegian) who was working at our practice in the UK. My cat Poppy was born in 2000. We got her spayed but unfortunately, Poppy developed serious complications (she somehow managed to tear her internal stitches). It resulted in an emergency operation. Hege was the surgeon. Mid way through the surgery she had one of the nurses telephone me for permission to put Poppy to sleep while she was under the anaesthetic as the internal damage was quite severe. I heard Hege say "We've come this far, we'll carry on". Poppy came through the surgery but had to be kept in very close confinement in a cage that was only large enough for her, her food bowl and a small litter box. We were warned that she would probably never be able to jump any distance or walk properly as she'd lost a lot of muscle tissue from both her abdomen and her left rear leg - that was IF she survived. Well, Poppy did survive. She was able to jump up high, run around like my other cats and apart from having a very slight "wobble" on her back end that unless you knew about, you would not notice. Poppy went on to live for 17 years. We finally lost her to kidney failure in 2017. Hege left our practice to return to her native country of Norway. I really hope that Hege watches Bondi Vet and sees this post. Thank you Hege for not giving up on Poppy and giving us 17 marvellous years with her. You are a vet in million.

Why do some people neglect animals in the first place, though? What have they ever done to you? They may have bit you, scratched you, and destroyed items, yes but that's no reason to make their short little lives miserable. The only thing you have to do is give them love, attention, and you have to train them. Yes, they are animals but so are we. How would *you* like it if *you* were neglected and abused? You wouldn't. Exactly... Nor do your pets. Some may be aggressive! That's no reason to put it down. Train it, work with it, help it. Let's say you had anger issues. Would *you* be killed because you got angry easily? No, no you wouldn't. Because you can *fix* those issues. Some may have illnesses but, that doesn't mean it isn't happy. Don't put those pets down either. Let them live them live their lives out. Even if you know they are going to die and are still happy little ones. Thank you for listening. 🥺

@@witchyartist1276 Hello, Thank you so much for reaching out. I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.I am very sorry for your loss too. It really hurts to see them go because they are part of our Family. I love them all. When I was a kid we had a black puppy I wanna say less than a year since I was little I don't know how old he was. We named him Blackie and one day we we opened the gate to feed him and all of a sudden Blackie saw a another doggie going by and got out and started chasing the doggie a car passed by and hit him. Blackie started running of pain and of course didn't recognize us and went to a neighbor's house. We asked for permission to go inside and Blackie was laying by the fence, my parents said you could see his bones and didn't want us to see him like that. I don't know how that vehicle hit Blackie to have scraped his hands and up for that to happen that vehicle was going very fast and also hit his head that's why he went crazy and runned to another house. Blackie passed away. 😭💔 it's been years but it still hurts like the first day. 😢

It was probably just inflammation from after the surgery you have to think all the loose skin that was probably left behind just collected some fluids in there that space where their used to be a bunch of stuff herniated out into that space and then over time as the body adjusted it just reabsorbs that fluid as the skin tightened back up.

I think Faith is amazing and inspirational but surely one of those trollys they use for injured dogs would have been so much kinder and less stressful on her joints. I suffer back pain and arthritis and I felt so sorry for her.

Didn´t like the pressuring of that poor tired old dog - she is in Pain - and that´s when tiering-breaks in bones and spine can happen! She Already did the impossible, and were used by people enough, please carry her, she will lett you know when she want´s down. Also massage, warming/cooling pads/balms for pain, sweater in the cold periods. Glad she´s finally retired, hope she gets her own padded stroller, leg/body support, sunscreen, waterbowl+ blanket underneath. Lol, but I wouldh donate :)

*A note on that satellite tracker looking big:* Dr Archie Carr, the father of sea turtle biology, first tracked a turtle in the 60's. He did it by drilling a hole in the turtle's shell, used rope to connect the turtle to a flotation device where he placed a radio tracker. However, the radio tracker lost connection every time it went behind a wave. To solve this they instead attached the tracker to a weather balloon that they tied to the flotation device. The balloon could be spotted for miles, far longer than the reach of the radio tracker. Now how did the turtle react to pulling a rope connected to a float, connected to a weather balloon, carrying a radio tracker? She was completely unfazed and kept a pretty decent speed.
